I don't find it vulgar at all. Diane Kruger's "brand" when it comes to fashion is that she wears these fashion forward things that shouldn't work but somehow do. She takes risks and some of them really don't work but it's still interesting. The sheer dresses were still all over the fashion weeks, Diane chose an interesting one at the very least. (I love the color, but there's like 1% of the sheer/lace dresses I've liked so I'm not a fan, but I've seen uglier and less flattering (including at the very same party.))

I wouldn't use the word vulgar to describe it, but I do find it unnecessary to wear something like that. I don't quite understand the draw to that style by some women. The men I can understand wanting to have this style out there, but....

As I said, I don't find it vulgar because of it's sheerness or the nudity factor (in fact in the right setting nudity is beautiful) but more because it's being worn with the specific outcome of being talked about. Diane doesn't have a film at the Oscars, she doesn't have her power couple boyfriend with her, so she needs something to attract the media.

I'm sorry if I'm being cynical and I know it's a celebrity's job to self publicise but I just find it too attention grabbing. I also don't find it particularly fashion forward - it looks like she's in Moulin Rouge! I don't think this is a "risk" in terms of fashion - it's just a standard dress with some flesh showing.

As I said, I loved her red pantsuit last year and she's generally interesting in her clothes choices but this one doesn't work for me personally. It's something I would expect J_Lo or Sofia Vergara to wear.
