It may only be a movie, but I think some people who are personally connected to Syria are feeling very sensitive, nationalistic, or vulnerable, among other passionate emotions right now. Syria is experiencing a great deal of unrest and it can be upsetting when a movie can trigger the kinds of responses we read in the comments on YouTube.

It can go one of two ways here. Either what's happening in Syria will boost the movie in a good way or it could hamper it's chances of getting out to a wider audience. I still can't forget back in the 90's with the "Gulf war" that there was a liitle prohibition on a few band lyrics and on anything connected with the worsening situation there that was said in the media.
Maybe we've moved on from then but it's a situation worth keeping an eye on.

Josh at this time has not committed to going to TIFF. I would imagine he would have to wait to see what his shooting schedule is for the week of the gala presentation, to see if he can attend. Marisa and Alexander are down for going, though.

I've only seen a few reviews for the movie, but the critics don't seem to like it much at all. Marisa Tomei seems to have been a not so great point.

Other general responses are that people seem to have enjoyed it. However, I think it could be one of those movies where you either like it or you don't, as the story seems to let the film down somewhat.

As for the movie, even if it's not a masterpiece, it looks better than Lay The favorite. It looks enjoyable enough, but I admit the only attractive part I'm attracted to is Josh. The critics don't say much about his role, so maybe he doesn't have that much screentime

Maybe they don't mention Josh because he is not the lead actor. I've read the reviews and they barely mention even Marisa Tomei. And then...judging from what josh said about his character i don't know what to think about his less screentime because Paul looks like a really intriguing character and i tend to believe he is in most scenes. That said, let's wait and see what the other reviews have to say
