I realize that "teen" refers to the voters and not the nominees. What I meant was that I hope Josh had moved beyond the teeny-bop fan-base and on into the older teen/18-49 demographic that is so important to the powers-that-be, as well as the more mature fan-base he should have for long-term success as he grows as an actor.

I would think that, considering some of the more mature content that Fringe offers, young teens would/should NOT be watching. I won't let my 12 and 11 year old boys watch this show, for example.

This is only one award show though. Frankly, I am grateful that Josh got nominated for his role in Fringe.

I thought 2 episodes of the new season were already in the can? Oh! Maybe for the stars... now they're filming background and extraneous scenes. Is that it?

So, I guess they modified the first episode title to, "A New Day in an Old Town"

New article about fringe

Quote:
FRINGE
Fox
Fox's "Fringe" could have easily frayed from all the hype. Instead, the drama -- co-created by the unstoppable J.J. Abrams -- shook off the early "X-Files" comparisons and emerged as the season's top-rated new show, thanks to its addictive mix of weird science and compelling characters (and we don't just mean that eerie bald Observer guy).
Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), the FBI agent charged with solving the trippy "Fringe" cases, is a worthy addition to Abrams' oeuvre of smart, tail-kicking chicks, while the tenuous reconciliation between wiseguy Peter (Joshua Jackson) and his brilliant (though mentally unstable) father Walter (John Noble) has infused the series with a surprising poignancy.

Such attention to character is a priority for the producers.

"If there aren't real human emotions at the core," says showrunner Jeff Pinkner, "then we feel we've failed as storytellers."

Still, any sci-fi drama worth its chills demands jaw-dropping twists, and "Fringe" delivered with its season finale, which found Walter visiting a gravestone with his son's name on it and Olivia dropping in on Leonard Nimoy in an alternate reality where the Twin Towers still stand. According to Pinkner, producers are just getting started.

"Internally, we're all viewing season one as the prologue," he says. "Season two is when our storytelling really kicks into gear."

"Season two is when our storytelling really kicks into gear"!! What a statement!

If S1 is only the prologue, I cannot wait to chew the fat with the meat of the story in S2.

I know that some friends of mine were really turned off by the first season in the beginning (until about episode 15 and onward), but I hope that they keep that momentum for season two. From the sounds of it, they will!

I hope they would really get into the mythology of "the Pattern" more. That was so intriguing in the months leading up to the premiere episode last year, but I was disappointed with how little they actually referred to it, let alone touched on it in the 1st season.

I mean, what became the point of all that Fibonacci stuff and the freak physical occurences within nature if they're not going to ever utilize it?

I think the new role of an FBI agent has been filled.

Meghan Markle joins 'Fringe'

Quote:
Meghan Markle has joined the cast of Fox's "Fringe" as a recurring.

On the sci-fi drama, set to return for a second season in the fall, Markle will play an attractive, brash and quick-witted junior FBI agent.

It's interesting that they seem to have gone with a relatively unknown actress for the part, compared to the more wellknown one that they were rumoured to have wanted. I wonder if the part has been downgraded/changed?

The part is still only a recurring role, and her amount of airtime could be based initially on whether viewers like her or not.

In other news, Orci and Kurtzman have announced that their roles for this season will be as consultants. I think they were producers/writers in season 1 (pls correct me if I'm wrong). Jeff Pinkner and J H Wyman? are running it apparently. So, the big changes keep on coming. These big behind the scenes changes I assume must be because of the budget cuts.

Also, apparently nearly all the writers have been changed as well. Don't know how accurate that is though. JJ Abraham and Akira Goldsmith have written 2.01 and Jeff Pinkner and J H Wyman have written 2.02. Akira is directing 2.01 and Brad Anderson is directing 2.02.
