I like the tender moments of Pacey. Particularly, the ones with his dad... very emotional. Season 2 was very good to him with heavy emotional scenes. I know it says 'favorite episode' ...but there are favorite scenes within episodes I don't necessarily think are great... so...I'm expanding it to 'favorite scenes within my favorite Pacey season.' Off the top of my head...oh, let me go look up episode numbers. Okay... I love episode 201...frosting his tips. Hilarious! Off to a great start! And then when he realizes that Andie thinks he's a cop and he walks around her and checks out her butt while she's rambling on. hee! I love 204, the one where Tamara returns. He's so tender and so vulnerable...you can almost feel him crumble as his emotions are so mixed up over her. 206 and dancing with Christy Livingstone and he's lost in her as they sway together. 207...The All-Nighter. That was a good one when he explains to Andie how she'll just have to get over what he's done in the past cuz it's part of who he is and he can't change it... and his description of what sex is... Also, the first good wet wifebeater shot to let us know he's grown up under all those baggy clothes. I love the one when the guys all go fishing (212) and he's crying over his drunk dad on the sand... The scenes when he's with Andie...holding her in her kitchen when she first tells him about her brother dying and her mother being sick. I think that's 208. Also, the ones later on, 220 & 221, all the stuff dealing with his handling of her mental illness & where he's telling her goodbye as she goes off to the hospital... Then, 222, the one where his dad slaps the heck out of him...then later, he punches his dad and tells him off at the fire...then his dad apologizes at the end and he has a great crying scene... I've watched it over and over and it gets to me every time. That boy needed the love of a father sooo badly. (not sure if I'm talking about Josh or Pacey...but I bet the emotion of acting those scenes are deeply rooted in reality) I don't care for Andie and Pacey... but I think this was a wonderful season of growth for Josh and for his character. How's that? Did I say too much?
Great post Awakemiddream

You forgot the episode 214, when Pacet spitted Mr. Peterson's face, I love that episode since I've always loved rebel guys, lol. And that was a shocking moment in DC too.

I agree with you, this is the best Pacey season and that scene at the end of PDA is the one of the bests of the show. I only disagree with you in one point. When you said that you don't care about Pacey and Andie, because I loved them together in season 2. They were (mostly Pacey,of course) the reason why I stayed hooked on the show during season 2. Thanks to Andie we got to know a better Pacey, the hero, the romantic...he was more self-confident thanks to her and with her, he felt really loved for the first time in his life. Their scenes together in Ch...Ch...Changes are incredibly sweet and when he thanks her for inspire him to become the man he never dreamt to be and he says, my heart boom-boom-boom, I just ... I know Pacey had those great qualities inside himself before Andie, but they were still unnoticed for the audience.

He became a better person because of Andie, because she inspired him as he said and I'll always be grateful with Andie, because she made Pacey looked like a leading man, like the kind of man any woman could fall in love with

Season 3 is a whole different story though.

Okay...you've got me there...I totally agree with you. But her voice really, really gets on my nerves. Badly.

I hated her voice too. I always enjoyed Pacey's scenes with his dad. They had great chemistry.

I don't think Andie changed Pacey because I don't believe one person can do that. It has to come from inside. I think they met at the right time and needed something from each other. I think they helped one another.

Oh, I the P/T kiss in Season 2. That was sooooo hot!

Pacey and Andie were an odd couple. Their relationship was sort of sweet in its own right, but I never really believed the chemistry between those two. Erin, when you say "they needed something from each other", I think you're right. But they didn't need each other. What they got from each other was experience. Dating experience, relationship experience, sexual experience. They slept together far too soon. And what they went through together was far too "adult" for them, and it destroyed any teenaged innocence that they deserved for their relationship to last.

Despite Andie's academic accomplishments, she was rather naive in the relationship realm with Pacey as her boyfriend. She was too manipulative for him, and at the same time, too indecisive. She wanted him, she didn't want him. She wanted him, but didn't know how much. Pacey was the solid, honest one. Andie didn't know herself. For all the good that her station in life could have contributed to them as a couple, Andie always seemed to be holding back. Now, I don't know if that was intended by the writers, as her character was a very troubled soul and really didn't want any of her family's ghosts divulged to anyone. Or, if it was the fact that Meredith was 10 years older than Josh and the chemistry may have been off there.

For example, Pacey's "fantasy come true" scene looked awkward to me:

see? He's not even holding her; they're just "there".

They had some fun banter, but no passion IMO. They had more passion in the extended version of the finale than in all of season 2 -- and her scenes got cut from the televised version! Plus, her voice in the finale was beautiful. Deep, soft and resonant. Too bad. I don't think the writers quite knew how to develop Pacey and Andie. In any event, Josh gave us some great performances as S2 Pacey, setting himself up to take over as leading man, but the writers gave us an Andie who was really too tormented for the couple to work -- and be believable.

I disagree with everything you said Ten my love. I don't see pacey and andie that way. That's all I am going to say.

I never said Pacey didn't love Andie. I believe Pacey did love Andie and wanted the relationship to work, but it was Andie's faults and many troubles -- and how she handled those within their relationship -- that proved to Pacey that ultimately she wasn't the one for him. Pacey was unusually self-aware and discerning when it came to personal relationships. Pacey needed and expected truth and honesty because it was missing in his own family. And he just didn't get enough of that from Andie. She was too needful in her own right and couldn't give to him what she didn't have.

And I just didn't see actual, physical passion between these two individuals. Comparatively, with Pacey and Joey, it was more than obvious.

I agree with everything you said Donna. The fantasy scenes were really unbelievable. The pic you posted definitely shows that.

This is so true.

And this.

And they did have more chemistry(than in season 2) in the Series finale. Meredith, imo, may have felt more comfortable.

Thanks for the pic Sarah. I enjoyed Pacey and Audrey early in their relationship. They were cute and funny.

You know, Donna, what you are saying about the physical aspects of the Pacey/Andie dynamic is funny because I caught the last 15 minutes of DC this morning and it turned out to be the episode where Pacey loses his virginity. I actually thought a lot about the last scene, after he and Tamara have sex. Here he was, a 15 year old boy who had just lost his virginity in high fantasy fashion and he snuggles into Tamara, reaches for her hand and delicately and gently kisses her shoulder. I sat there thinking to myself, "I don't know too many adult men who want to cuddle after sex and here's this 15 year old boy who gets it."

I remember wondering when I originally saw this episode years ago if the director had come up with that bit of business or if the actors played a part in it, because it was such a sweet little moment. My point, though, is that Leann Hunley was a lot older than Meredith Monroe and yet I felt much more of a heightened chemistry between her character and Pacey than between Pacey and Andie. I actually think that Meredith Monroe often tried too hard to fit into that perky teenage thing because she was so much older than the other players - somehow a lot of that rang false to me - and out of all his leading ladies, on the show and in his films - I felt less of a physical tug between those two than any of the others.

LOL, I'm with you on that one, I wasn't Andie's biggest fan, but I appreciated what she did for Pacey.

I'm agree with that, I never said she changed him, I said she inspired him to be a better person because of her love. And I think he needed her a lot, that's why he was so desperate when she went to the mental facility, he was in love with her, but needed her more, I think there wasn't a great passion between them, there was a beautiful and pure love.

Quote:

It's odd because even when I admit there wasn't a great chemistry between Meredith and Josh, I think they (or mostly Josh in any case) conveyed a lot of love, Josh is a great actor and he always conveys love for the woman he's acting with. He's just amazing in the love scenes. And when you mentioned High Risk Behavior; I have to say that was in that very episode when I fell head over heels in love with Pacey, he was just too sweet with Andie, when he holds her in his arms and tells her that he doesn't have to sleep with her to feel what he feels, and that she has brought hope to his existence... I'm such a romantic, lol.
And I think maybe that was a problem of screen chemistry, because Josh and Meredith seemed to be good friends in real life, he even brought a pic of her in his suit to the 100th DC episodes reunion.

Of course I know that, I'm a pjer and I know Joey was his true love , for the rest of his life, but we have to give Andie some credit, she was his first love and season 2 was very beautiful because of them, season 3 is another history.

Well, I really didn't mean to bash Andie, but I, too, saw today's episode and that final tender cuddle with Tamara was such a mature scene. Very effective and affective. Can't say I really saw that with Andie.

Perhaps what the producers tried to do for Pacey in S2 with the introduction of Andie into his life was take things back a few steps and reintroduce some innocence into his life. Pacey had indeed taken steps far too advanced and mature for his youth, and Tamara did tell him to "find a girl your own age". That worked for a while with the "Officer Pacey" and Heart Stripe jokes, but I just didn't believe Andie's part in the romance.

But, like this was such a long, weird crane shot from "The Dance". They were making up after a fight and the kiss came across rather staged. Look at the distance between them; shouldn't they be wrapped up in each other? The discomfort factor was pretty high. I just think they couldn't get past her trying so hard, as you said Bonni. It could even be that Josh comes across so strong and perhaps even intimidating on set (ya think?). After all, Meredith came in to a set of relationships already established in S1. Perhaps it took a while to find the fit.

hey guys, i just noticed this thread
my favorite Pacey season was season 2 because he stopped being Dawson's sidekick (his words, not mine )
but other than that, seasons 2 and 3 were great Pacey seasons, as well as 5 and 6.
Season 4 was good because he was with Joey and was very happy, but in the same time, like he said, it seemed like he was waiting for the other shoe to drop. He also looked so depressed starting in admissions (he knew it was the end for him and Joey).

kind of off-topic, but is anyone starting the P/Jo thread? thanks (i wanna respond to the last thing discussed).

edit
I can't really agree with much of what you guys said about Pacey and Andie. The reason I even tuned in in the second season was because of these two. I thought they had amazing chemistry and although I do agree that one person cannot change another, I do think they brought out the best in each other. I think that all the sweet stuff that Pacey did in the second season were all already in him... but Andie is the one that motivated him to bring it out. She was worth all his trouble.

other great Pacey moments occurred in season 5, when he was a chef.

Does anyone have any positive things to say about Pacey and Andie? This isn't an anti-pacey and andie thread.
