I suppose it will depend on whether there is a season 5, and promo work. Cole looks fine with a trimmed beard, (see 1st pic below) but not so good with the full on bushy beard. (second pic).

Well it was Alison's pov (see the size of the horse and the casual style of Cole's clothes), so maybe she sees him that way.

That is a very good point. Remember in the first episode when she's walking on the beach and she sees Cole with that girl by the bonfire and he appears very happy, she makes a comment about how it's a bad thing to be happy. I don't recall her exact words, but I think she felt Cole was happier than her and that's how she seemed to see him.

I think everything about The Affair is subject to how we interpret it and some things are left a bit vague for people to make up their own minds. Everything we see is not always the truth. I think that is one of the reasons that Josh took on this project, because it was not straight forward.

Cole's POV doesn't see him smiling very much, either. But yeah, all the people on the Affair are playing 3-4 characters. I mean, in s1, all we saw was Noah or Alison's idea of Cole. Then in s2 and s3, we had Noah's, Alison's, and Cole's. (I really wish just once we'd get Luisa's.)

It would be interesting to see Luisa's POV, but given what we know from Cole's POV, she might be more insecure than we realize because it usually takes a lot for a man to notice something is off.

Looking at the lovely picture of Cole, Luisa and the horse, am I the only one who thinks the horse is gorgeous. He looks so nice and quiet, I would love a horse like that. Perhaps I could use him as an avatar in the future!
