When I see Dom, I think Noah Bleepin' Solloway (of course) and Jimmy McNulty

If anyone gets the chance to see the BBCs version of Les Miserables it is an excellent production - much better than the musical movie.

I'll try and watch it. Looks like a different Dom West.

I'm currently hooked on this Michelle Dockery series called Good Behaviour on HULU. It's such a different character than her Downton Abbey character.

I've never seen any version of Les Miserables.

Thanks for the Article on Ruth, it didn't really give us anything we didn't already know though.

I've seen Good Behaviour - it is very good.

Going to read the Ruth article now.

Sarah Treem has been posting a lot of BTS of The Affair S5 filming lately on her Instagram.

Oh yeah, and FYI, Furkat is back.

Not Furball? I hope someone punches him around like he mistreated Whitney. Lets hope she has taken some self defence lessons!

24 Heartbreaking TV Moments from 2018

11. Cole at Alison’s Grave (The Affair)

Quote:
“I was coming back for her,” Cole admits to his mother the night of Alison’s funeral, when he’s sitting at her headstone holding her ashes in The Affair Season 4 Episode 10, “410.”

Cole: I drove across the entire country to come and get her, but I was too late. I am always too late.

This admission is equally as heartbreaking as her death, however it happened. Alison’s affair with Noah may have been the catalyst of the entire series, but from very early on, it’s clear that she and Cole are meant to be together. Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson certainly had the natural chemistry to support that.

When that chemistry exists, the acting often backs it up when one character is just talking about the other. The Affair is past the Emmy buzz stages. But Jackson certainly gives a performance worthy of consideration as he’s sitting there, confessing to his mother that he’s not sure he’s strong enough to go on without her.

The scene ends with Cole curled up in his mother’s lap like a child. He’s searching for the strength to go on raising his own child, though her mother and brother have passed on.

That was certainly a poignant moment.

The main trouble with The Affair is that, in my opinion, it gives the wrong message to people who may be struggling with similar situations. The fact that Alison confronted Ben and ended up dead is like being told to keep your mouth shut and put up with intolerable behaviour from a partner, or something awful will happen to you. In a time when women are being encouraged to speak up and not let men do what they want to them ie 'me too,' perhaps a different outcome would have been better to that confrontation. Alison could have left with her head held high after confronting the men in her life, and kept contact with Joanie off screen.

Sadly that didn't happen. I get what you mean, but hopefully those that watch this show are smart enough to know that that doesn't necessarily happen in real life, although it can and does in some instances, but there are usually signs leading up to that.

It's just a pity that a show with a female showrunner doesn't have better independent female characters, as in other shows run by women. ie Olivia Pope and the other women characters in Scandal.
