Helen seemed so together until that idiot Noah had an affair. I feel bad for her and I hope she can find happiness with Vik.

Helen and Vik at least have a basis of honesty? Fingers crossed.

Well I think Noah and Helen must have brushed a lot under the carpet in their relationship, as happy couples don't stray that easily. Perhaps if Helen hadn't derided Noah so much in front of her parents and taken their side against Noah (which I think we were meant to deduce had been going on for some years), he wouldn't have looked elsewhere for comfort. Unfortunately it didn't come across so well on screen, and showing how Noah behaved in season 2 spoiled what sympathy he may have had from the audience.

I feel like Noah was just self-destructive with his own happiness. Alison and Cole had real problems but Noah was just being super awful.

Speaking of spoiled, Noah kind of acted like a spoiled brat. I saw Helen telling her parents to 1) stop picking on Nosh and 2) stop trying to start a fight with Noah. I saw more of that than Helen berating him in front of her parents. I think he just got sick of all the hard stuff like raising kids and dealing with in-laws, but that's just reality buddy, suck it up.
At least Cole tried, he "did everything Alison asked him to do" after their son died. __________________

I think what they were trying to show was that Noah was a very damaged individual before he even met Helen, and was wracked with guilt about his mother, but it just didn't come across so well. Perhaps if they had hinted more of his troubled background earlier there may have been more sympathy for Noah, but what they were trying to convey just didn't come over well on screen. Noah just came over as a bit of a d**** bag!

Sarah loves Noah so much, she never gets how much of a human dumpster fire he comes off as.

I still don't get why Sarah loves Noah so much. What are we missing that she's not making clear?

I would love to interview Sarah and ask her this question:
"It's no secret that the majority of fans out there do not like Noah, so what is it about him that you like so much and continue to defend?" __________________

I think she's said that as a writer she identifies with Noah, the writer. I think it's the same reason she never anticipates the criticism - it's almost personal.

I don't like Noah but am trying to see what the writers are trying to make us see in him, but I'm afraid I am failing to like much about the character. All the others have good and bad points about them but I can't see many good points in Noah, apart from the fact that he loves his kids and wants what is best for them, but sometimes doesn't know what to do to make them see this.

Noah is just profoundly selfish and convinced hes a good person when he's nothing of the sort.
