About the Series

At once deeply observed and intriguingly elusive, THE AFFAIR explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship. Noah is a New York City schoolteacher and novelist who is happily married, but resents his dependence on his wealthy father-in-law. Alison is a young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage back together in the wake of a tragedy. Set in Montauk at the end of Long Island, the provocative drama unfolds separately from both the male and female perspectives, using the distinct memory biases of both to tell the story.

Don't forget to put "Emmy Nominee" under Maura Tierney!

LWS53 04-02-2017 03:27 PM

Maura's entry now amended to show her Emmy Nominee status. Thanks for the reminder.

JJH85 04-02-2017 06:44 PM

I amended Josh's too as he was Nominated for a People's Choice Award two years in a row.

Does anyone know if the French lady is signed for next season? Not saying her character was pointless, but she didn't need her own POV and that time could have been allocated to Cole and Alison. Anyone agree with this?

I agree that she didn't need her own POV. Even though I didn't hate it, it seemed kind of redundant.

IMDb doesn't have S4 info yet, I guess we will have to wait and see.

She stayed in Paris and I thought from Sarah's comments about the "reason" for her in the story, it sounded like it was only for one season. Though, who knows, with all the people criticizing Sarah, she might decide to double down with even more POVs from total strangers.

Lets just hope Sarah and her team fix the mess that was Season 3.

Well Juliette has virtually lost her job in France as the University only wanted her because of her husband, so could come back to the States after a mourning spell, and once her daughter is more settled. Whether she will or not will depend on which direction the writers decide to take the show next.

Sandy K 04-04-2017 04:47 AM

Didn't Sarah say/tweet something about Juliette being a one season character? She was basically there for Noah to interact with.

(grumble grumble should have been luisa grumble grumble or vic grumble grumble)

JJH85 04-04-2017 04:57 AM

I kind of agree that S3 was a bit of a mess, so I am glad that we are getting a 4th season so we aren't left with a sour taste after that.

I actually like Luisa, but probably because I'm not an Alison fan and therefore don't ship Cole and Alison.

I like Alison but that may be because of Ruth who interacts so well with Josh as Alison and Cole. When I first saw Ruth in Luther I hated her and her character, but as the show went on I warmed to them both! I didn't even watch the last series of Luther as she wasn't in it!
