I think that the film is purposely made that if enhanced so you can make out the 'action' the quality is not good so as to stop magazines posting them as if they are real and not part of a tv show.

I think it's just that even at the highest quality the scene is so DARK when you get rid of the shadows, inevitably you get loss of quality. Nothing to do with magazines or what have you, just product of the lighting.
