Hm, I haven't read anything from Anne Rice (besides "Interview with a vampire" that is), but I plan to check out more of her work at one point

Yeah. Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. The first and third were made into movies, but I didn't really like QotD. They left too much out and changed too much.

And pinkpaisley, you should definitely read the Sookie books. I really like them.
I will definitely give them a try. Somehow, I never thought they were this dark and more fluffy.

I am currently reading the Insider's Guide to the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And next week, I will see if I can find a copy of CH's first book.

That sounds like a plan. Fingers crossed that you can get your hands on a copy of the first book

Has anyone read the 'Rachel Morgan' series by Kim Harrison?

Nope, haven't read that one yet - would you recommend the series?

I think I will.

Another series I recommend are the Dark Ones by Katie MacAlister. The first book is titled A Girl's Guide to Vampires and it sets the stage for the vamps, but the other books focus more on them. But the first 3 are my favs
- A Girl's Guide to Vampires
- Sex and the Single Vampire
- Sex, Lies and Vampires

Another fav of mine: Erin McCarthy - The Vegas Vampires series

* High Stakes
* Bit the Jackpot
* Bled Dry
* Sucker Bet

Both series are definitely adult rated, but worth checking out!

Don't forget the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. Those should be on top of your list!

I gotta check out the others. I've seen them at amazon, but never checked them out.

Did you read the new BB books - it was a companion right? - already?

i read evernight loved it. the vampire kisses series annoyed me so much b/c of the whole goth thing. ugh.

this is what i decided: a lot of the more adult vampire fiction is just erotic fiction in disguise. and if i really wanted to read that, i could get to the chase and download something off of the internet. this is why i think i like the more young adult geared vampire fiction. and since it is an escapism tool for me, i kind of like it with a little bit more romance. so yes. i am 24. i like young adult romantic vampire fiction like twilight and evernight. hahaha. what up in this thread is in that vain?

I've read them all, including the last compendium, yeah. And there are six books now, but it's a very complicated world, so I think the Insider's Guide came just in time, even though she is still introducing new characters and stuff. Have you read the books?

I got Dead Until Dark! Can't wait to start reading it, but I'm rereading Dark Lover. And then I got another book waiting first. But DUD is not a big book. I had expected a bigger one.
