I don't think we've completely lost Lincoln, there may be episodes yet that just show the alternate side.

It's possible that it has to do with budget reasons but we'll never really know. YES he was used as a pawn! Now I realize they had no intention of making Lincoln part of the Fringe Team. He could have been even with Peter back and PO back together. I think it could have worked but they chose not to go in that direction.

I agree. His death was too sudden and it came out of nowhere. I'm actually kind of glad that we didn't see his "death" scene. I don't think I could have handled that.

They needed BlueLincoln to introduce S4, and then they just wasted him with that ridiculous pseudo triangle that never was. And for what? Nothing never happened between him and Olivia, in the end Olivia forgets all her memories, and they made the scenes with Peter awkward because of the Olivia situation that never was. A total waste. Which makes Alt-Lincoln's death even less tolerable. The only reason I can see to justify all this is that Seth won't be part of S5.

I don't think Seth will be a regular like this season for budgetary and other reasons but I can't help but feel like we'll see Lincoln and the Alts at least one more time. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part though because Lincoln and the Alts were among the few things I connected to this season, and I'm not feeling real hopeful about the direction of next season based on Letters of Transit.

Thematically, I kind of get why, if they wanted to write Seth/Lincolns out, they killed Alt-Lincoln and sent Lincoln Over There. I think they wanted Peter and Lincoln to kind of mirror each other, Lincoln taking Peter's place when Peter was erased and then when Peter came back, taking the place he might have occupied in the Red verse if things had been different. I just think the whole thing was rushed and not executed well, like a lot of things this season, unfortunately.
