As much as I love Josh (Jackson), I don't see Pacey as one of those roles that only he could play. I do feel that way about the role of Peter Bishop, but not Pacey.

I don't know. Alyson Hannigan is too well known for her comedic roles and Josh Duhamel sci-fi.

I think with most proposed remakes, the hardest thing is getting a good cast together. It can be very difficult to get the originals back. Producers know that diehard fans of the show are their target audience and those fans may not take well to substitutes for their favorite actors.

Oh yeah that’s definitely true and if you get one or two cast members that won’t commit that alone sets you back

Looking at some of the revivals it seems like the creators are way out of touch: Charmed, saved by the bell and 90210

I suspect that, especially with shows that are aimed at younger audiences, producers are hoping they'll capture an entirely new audience with the same basic premise and maybe grab a few of the old fans with one or two characters who reprise their roles in older versions.
