I am very pessimistic about all this. I think that the producers just committed series suicide. Peter will probably be an Observer now. Hopefully he won't have to shave his head. I'll probably keep checking in for news now and again...but unless or until I hear something promising, I'm through watching.

I was thinking how similar Peter's disappearance is to what Battlestar Galactica did to which makes Peter's case even sadder. I admit BSG traumatized me to no end, so I'm not happy they pulled a similar stunt in this show.

This is not a cliffhanger that makes me excited for next season. It's one thing to end up in a bad situation, but alive, like Olivia last season, where you could root for her to escape as soon as possible. That hiatus was full of speculation and, above all, hope. This cliffhanger, however, is too depressing. How can I speculate about someone, who doesn't exist? My theories are about who is going to replace Peter in the team/family and how they're going to retcon 3 seasons into a whole new thing, which leaves me rather bummed out.

On the bright side, there's lots of potential for mean "Peter who?" jokes.

The producers said that in the season 4 there will probably be a third universe, so maybe Peter is there for now. There has been a lot of yellow related to Peter this year, and to the observers in these 3 years. Do you remember the pen with the yellow writing "find the crack"? The sheriff gave it to peter as a way to help him to find his place, because he didn't know who was. Peter has never been in line with his destiny over here and maybe over there too. So when peter created the bridge between the two worlds maybe he also opened a crack to the yellow universe, the place where he's now.

Josh said that he sees peter as a "third part/entity". Maybe he's right. Maybe peter is really something very close to the observers, but a boss for them. The observers are 12 and peter can be a kind of God, capable to create/destroy universes and to change the timeline. Who knows. Maybe peter is someone (the original first people) who travelled into time since the beginning and when he changes time he forgets who he was in a preview timeline. I hope we'll learn the meaning and the origin of the ancient paper with peter and the machine we saw in the season 2 finale. If you look closely that paper you'll note a yellow Y on peter's face. Maybe that paper, the original machine and peter come from this yellow universe, the original one!

Really? I keep reading them denying there will be a 3rd universe. When did they say that?

Someone asked the producers if there will be a third universe and their answer was "not this season", referred to season 3. But i remember a video interview where they hinted different news about what we can expect in the future: other observers, rogue observers and also a third universe
