Kirk Acevedo (born November 27, 1971) is an American actor. Notable is his portrayal of Miguel Alvarez in the HBO series Oz,
Joe Toye in Band of Brothers(TV miniseries) and his role as FBI Agent Charlie Francis in the science-fiction series Fringe
from 2008–2010. Acevedo's parents were both born in New York City, and lived in Brooklyn
where both their sons, Richard and Kirk Acevedo, were born.
The Acevedos moved to the Bronx, where Kirk and his brother were raised. Since childhood,
Kirk had shown an interest in acting; he would perform before his family in improvised shows.
Acevedo also participated in his high school's drama club. He is of Puerto Rican and Chinese descent. After graduating
from LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, Acevedo enrolled in the SUNY Purchase School of Acting (Purchase College).
In the 1990s, Acevedo earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and, as some of his classmates had landed parts shortly after auditioning for Oz,
he was also motivated to try out, and subsequently landed the role of the half-crazed gang leader prisoner Miguel Alvarez.

Charles "Charlie" Francis (played by Kirk Acevedo) is an FBI Special Agent, who holds the position of a supervisor.
He is close friends with John Scott and Olivia. Olivia often comes to him with requests for
manpower and other resources. Charlie is later promoted to Second-In-Command of the Fringe division,
making him the immediate subordinate of Broyles. In the season premiere of season 2,
"Momentum Deferred", Charlie is killed by a shapeshift who takes his place. The shapeshifter maintains
his identify for some until it learns the location of Newton, after which Olivia is forced to kill it. Charlie's death weighs heavily on Olivia's guilt.

The Other Universe version of Charlie Francis is alive and an agent of the alternate and more powerful Fringe division.
The alternative Charlie shares many of the same traits as the prime version, though suffers from a parasite infestation in his body,
a fate averted by the prime universe's Charlie in the first season episode "Unleashed".

I've updated the OP with Kirk's projects.

And here is a still of next Person of Interest episode with Kirk.

@l3jandra 10-27-2013 03:41 PM

Thanks for staring!

Are you still watching person of interest?

sofiab 10-30-2013 01:19 PM

Yes. It was a bit boring last season, but now it's better.

I'm going to watch the episode with Kirk tonight.

The episode was a sort of a continuation of last week's; it was a entertaining one, things are good now. There was a lot of Kirk in fact. He was an investigator who wanted to know what happened to his brother that he though was dead. The team helps him, but things were not exactly what he thought.

It was so great to see Kirk again, his unique voice :) I always try to watch the episodes where our cast guest stars, but I particularly liked that he was on a show that I watch. Since Fringe ended this was by far my favourite moment :)

Kirk is stuck at LAX because of the shooting. Kiersten is on her way to pick him up :P

Stuck at LAX for hours! Cuz of the shooting. Took an airport cart and walked a mile and a half!

Hope everything goes well. I saw some other celebs tweeting about it too. Kirk's not alone.

Kirk had a 2 episode guest spot on Person of Interest?

sofiab 11-03-2013 12:57 PM

No, just one, Amy. But he had a good number of scenes :)

Kirk is busy, now he'll be on Grimm. I've watched a few episodes, so I know a little about the show and I'll watch the episode Kirk's on.

‘Fringe’s’ Kirk Acevedo, ‘Breaking Bad’s’ Emily Rios Enlist for ‘Grimm’ Guest Roles (Exclusive)

Both actors will appear as former soldiers on an episode of the NBC supernatural drama airing in early-2014

NBC’s “Grimm” has booked two new tough-as-nails guest stars to stand against its fabled monster of the week.

Kirk Acevedo and Emily Rios will guest star on the NBC supernatural drama on an episode airing in early-2014, TheWrap has learned.

On the episode titled, “The Good Soldier,” Acevedo — whose TV credits include Fox’s “Fringe,” HBO’s “Oz” and NBC’s “Person of Interest” — will play Ron Hurd.

Ron is described as a tough-guy type who went straight from serving in the army to working in home security. The skills he possesses will come in handy when a dark secret from his army days comes back to haunt him.

Rios, whose TV credits include FX’s “The Bridge” and AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” will play Frankie Gonzales on the same episode.

Frankie is a hardened veteran who’s dealt admirably with a horrific trauma she incurred while serving. Strong-willed and tough-minded, she never backs down from a fight no matter how bad her odds may seem.

I thought he was a bad gut in Person of Interest

I've heard about Grimm but never watched it, I'll try to watch it :)

Grimm looks like creepy show. I don't know if I could watch it. Even for Kirk.

Of course earlier today I said I'd watch a horror movie if it had Jim Parsons in it (it's something he's trying apparently).

 So maybe. Horror is not my genre.

@l3jandra 11-08-2013 09:06 PM

I find the show interesting.

Jim Parsons is doing a horror movie?! That's new!
