I'm not sure they would ever be BFFs, but they worked well together when they got the chance.

I just think that, at least initially, Astrid was a bit too aware of her position as junior agent. She might not feel comfortable being buddies with Olivia. Maybe in S5 they could have been more friendly - and I think they were - but it's not like they could go shopping at the mall in S5.
