Interesting article. Star Trek - especially the original series - has been a big influence on a lot of people

I don't think the fact that they gave screen time to the father-son dynamic between Walter and Peter lessens in any way the role of Olivia as equal protagonist to Peter. In fact, I think they tried hard to offset that with the Nina/Olivia Mother-Daughter dynamic, but it simply didn't work as well. That may have been because Nina was more of an occasional character, or because she wasn't as likable as Walter, or maybe simply because she wasn't actually Olivia's mother.
I think it also may have been in part because between Peter and Olivia, Olivia was in many ways the stronger person. While both she and Peter lost parents in various ways at early ages, Olivia joined the FBI and was well into an honest, meaningful career when we met her. Peter, on the other hand, was adrift and involved in some apparently shady dealings. __________________

I can only imagine how intimidating that must have been. Particularly since Leonard Nimoy's voice is so unique.
