Considering the show is set in the 70s, short hair was out of fashion for the time. It was rare to see a woman with anything less than shoulder length. But then I don't think Wendy Carr was too concerned with current fashions.

One of the things I really like about the character is that she has such a very classy look - which back in the 70s was unusual. It was all about wild colors and polyester.
