Quotes

“They freaked out when I had to do some of the driving though, because I’m from Australia
and we drive on the other side of the street. Josh [Joshua Jackson]
is a little bit scared as I’m looking over the wrong shoulder reversing back.”

(about her character on Fringe) “She’s ridiculously focused and ridiculously determined.
She’s living in a man’s world, and it’s quite fun to not be constantly playing
the love interest. That’s what you get a lot of the time; you’re playing these
flirtatious scenes or you’re going on dates or you’re dressed up.
I love that she’s practical. She wears suits, and she doesn’t wear lipstick;
she just does her job.”

('this' referring to Fringe) As far as the paranormal, I'm a bit of a squib myself.
All the gross stuff, I didn't have any interest in prior to this."

"We’ll just keep going, each season,
we just keep discovering more and more Olivias,
and they just keep getting more and more different
until I end up playing this southern belle who reads palms."

"I haven’t really had the chance to play the alternate Olivia properly for herself.
It’s been our Olivia thinking that she was the alternate Olivia.
And then the alternate Olivia pretending to be our Olivia.
So, it’s been a little bit tough to work that line. What I found interesting
is that how clearly I am now seeing Olivia.
I don’t think you get those opportunities where you actually get
to step back and look at a character with a different
perspective while playing the other."

I've found in my life that the parts that you're right for are the parts that you get.
It's really usually quite easy because you're kind of right."

“I don’t feel like I’ve hit my stride. So I wonder what the moment will be
when I get to be who I want to be.”

“I don’t find guys nervous around me. But maybe guys don’t talkto me
if they’re nervous.”

“I’m terrible at practical jokes. I do them too well, so they’re not funny.
I end up saying, “Oh, no, I’m joking, I’m joking… .”

“They say Australians get that ten-yard stare. It comes from the land
and the horizon. You can see all around you for as far as you can see.
So you just stare. I do it all the time.”

“A friend of mine says his two favorite artists are Picasso and Rembrandt.
Picasso because he paints the beautiful in such an ugly fashion.
And Rembrandt because he paints the ugly so beautifully.”

Yeah she was!

Such a strong female survivor that didn't solely depend on men all the time

Pun intended, I guess Mindhunter is too fringe for the Emmy's. These days I don't believe the Emmy's are about acting anymore. They are about who does the most socially relevant show. You can't simply provide really good entertainment and expect to win. You have to have a show that points out an injustice or teaches a lesson. I have no problem with shows that do that - but if they want to make an award for that they should have "Most socially relevant show" as a category and let the acting and directing and other awards be for excellence in those fields, regardless of the subject matter.

I'd rather my favorite shows not win an award and stay away from that altogether. It means they're staying true to themselves and not kissing Hollywoods rear end.

Although it would be nice for Anna to be recognized on a national stage but the online fandom does it anyways.

I don't see how that's the issue with the Emmys - why does Game of Thrones dominate if it's about social relevance? It has nothing to do with any injustice or a lesson, far as I can tell.

I feel like it's more that there are so many television shows of varying lengths and budgets that a lot of great performances get lost.
