Krista, yeah they are sad but I don't think they necessarily have to be based on real life. Although I kinda think they do... x)

Well, I'm pretty sure that he wrote on the song, so I figure that the lyrics must have came from an experience he's had, or how he's felt sometime in the past...

*shrug* Either way. Sad lyrics. But DGMS on Permanent, man. I can't listen to that without getting teary eyed. ;(

That's probably true, I think songwriters generally use their past experiences as material when they write songs. But it could be a single event or parts or feelings of different times of their lives, and so on.

This is such an awesome convo but can I ask you to take it to the album thread?
