From last thread:

We know the reason behind this statement, if Chuck hadn't hooked up with Blair he probably wouldn't have cared about the ring thing. So in his mind he did what was best for him, Nate and Blair.

And Chuck didn't say anything that wasn't true, the talk between Nate and Jenny made it clear. Nate didn't feel comfortable in his relationship with Blair, Chuck just gave him a little push.
