Because Carlisle saved Edward from eternal death when the latter was dying as a human from the Spanish Influenza. Because Carlisle taught Edward how to be a good vampire by abstaining from feeding on humans and hunting animals instead. Because Carlisle helped Edward deal with Bella's tough pregnancy. Because Peter Facinelli and his kids are Team Edward! Because Carlisle taught Edward the importance of family. Because Carlisle wanted Edward to have an extraordinary life.
