I don't know where they've all gone.
 They might have lost interest in the soaps they were watching I guess.__________________

I think it doesn't help that a lot of the soaps that once existed are now gone and the US only has four current soaps at the moment. And I think a lot of people have stopped watching soaps as well. It used to be women at home watching their soaps, and they in turn would bring their younger family members in to watch the soaps. And they would start watching and continue watching into their adulthood, bringing their younger family in to watch the soaps. A television watching cycle. But all that has changed, more people are out working during the day and so they aren't watching, which means newer watchers aren't watching as well. Plus there is so many more channels and content, which makes the competition more fierce. But I think what really hit the most, was too many soaps live in the past. They haven't updated with the times, they still have similar stories from years earlier. There are few people of color, few people of different sexuality other than straight, there are few different gender stories other than people being male or female, most characters believe in the same religion, and the class system is all kinds of messed up. Etc. And many people don't want to tune into something that doesn't reflect them as individuals. So the numbers have dropped big time.
