I'd say the majority of his hatred is about how Ridge has treated his mother, Brooke, over the years. Also sibling rivalry because they share the same father (although Eric isn't biologically Ridge's father). Ridge also played a major role in the breakdown of his marriage to Caroline.

^ Pretty much sums it up. It seems the treatment of Brooke is the main reason although Brooke/Ridge has just went back to becoming BFF.

Of course what happened with Caroline didn't help matters at all.
I think he just sees Ridge as the person who can do and get away with anything.

Yes this!!! And he's right because Ridge does get away with everything.

He's a lot more settled and happy now with Maya & Lizzy.

I still find it incredible how amazing he was with Maya when her secret came out. It made me believe in their love more than I ever had before then.

If they break up Maya and Rick when it's clear there love is real, over some stupid cliche soap reason it would be a waste. Soap couples are never allowed to be happy because that means boring, blah, blah, blah. Most of the reasons they break them up is for stupid unrealistic reasons, so it comes off as more laziness.

Ah that makes sense Rick sees how Brooke has been hurt by Ridge and his actions and can't forgive him. Even though it seems Brooke has. Though it is frustrating that you see someone getting away with their actions and never have to really own up to them.

I completely agree with you.
At this point I don't see how anything can break them because Rick has really accepted every part of her, and Rick is the person she's always wanted.

Probably if one day Rick cheated, or the lose their baby somehow?

Those are the only two real storylines I could see to break them up!

I even made a gifset of the time of their great scene.

Rick being so accepting towards Maya was one of the most unexpected yet beautiful moments in soaps during 2015. They are my top 5 soap couples ever.

Even probably top 3.

There were woman who loved my name more than they ever loved me, so you see why I didn’t tell you who I was when we first met. I just…I just wanted to be liked for me. And then, there you were.

I agree the only thing that could ever possibly come between them would be if they disagreed over something about Lizzy and/or lost her.

They're such a legitimately strong couple and the way Rick accepted Maya wholeheartedly was astounding in just how unexpected it was. I don't think anyone watching expected for Rick to react the way he did but it showed just how much Maya & her love means and has opened him up.

Yeah, I expected a whole lot worst from Rick but yeah I guess he really appreciates her loyalty and I think what makes it easier is that when they fell in love, Maya didn't know he was a Forester and she didn't even want to be a model. Rick pushed her to do it.

The beginning of their relationship was the best for me even though he was with Caroline at the time.

So perfect! If there was a DVD for all of their earlier scenes, I'd be one of the first in line.

I just love how they connected to each other without fully knowing each other wealth or past. They fell in love with the people they were at that moment.

"I'm no angel, I'm just me. But I will love you endlessly." These lyrics from the song for that video are perfect especially when put in the same context with that horrendous storyline in which they were terrible bullies to Ally.

I didn't get to watch how they first got together but I definitely was not a fan of the sleazy way they reunited while he was married to Caroline (even though the Caroline/Ridge stuff was honestly no less sleazy when you think of Ridge's motives for pursuing her in the first place

).
