Yep. Matt's truly a great guy. So good for Maxie. The way he assured her right away things were going to be OK, and kissed her on the forehead. She's got such a good guy right there. But no doubt Guza wanted to set up a triangle. Before he was fired, I remember him saying in a magazine preview that M&M were going to have fun romance but "could you count on Maxie being a sure thing?" He later previewed the "shananigans" they'd have because of Spinelli for the Summer preview, which is what we're beginning to see.

Going back to today's episode, I'm not sure exactly what Maxie was supposed to mean when talking to Dante about Spinelli. Was she saying she broke up with him to protect him from himself? Or was she saying she thought he wasn't in love with her anymore so she assumed he would stop trying to prove himself? Or did she mean that once they broke up, she thought he would move on from on from that kind of thing?

I'm leaning towards it being one of the last two options. A little earlier, she lamented to Dante that this happened just when she thought she didn't have to worry about Spinelli again. After she mentioned his "man of action" complex while they dated, it seems she felt hostage situation showed he was still in love with her when she thought he was over her and wouldn't put himself in danger to prove himself to her anymore. My interpretation could be wrong though. At the end of it, she just seemed really guilty he was dying because he helped her and then wanted to compensate for it once she found out he was OK.

But it does appear it will or could lead to a Spixie reunion. If I could be assured that it was just as friends, then fine. But, unfortunately, I don't think that's what Guza had in mind and I don't know if that's what GW will have in mind. :shrug:

We've just begun this ridiculous Jackal PI storyline so I think things could go either way. GW has said he likes to set up scenarios where we know who to root for and who not to root for, so we'll have to see how he handles Matt, and if he wants Spinelli to be the root-for guy. We have to look at the rest of Guza's scritps too (which we're still seeing until the end of July), and see how GW proceeds. All in all, I hope they don't trash Matt either because I can't root for Maxie to reunite romantically with a character whose main purpose is wacky hijinks and comic relief. Spinelli/Maxie is just not my cup of tea at all.

^Yeah, exactly which is what worries me the most is that if they go there with Spixie then they will have to go out to paint Matt as douchbag who oh so doesn't deserve a girl like Maxie. You know how this show rolls right so we have to expect the worst. And what sucks the most is that Matt is my favorite character more than Maxie so it will suck even more hard for me to watch if that plays out like that. If Maxie was my favorite, of course I would be pissed at her for dumping a great guy for this uh....weirdo guy. So it'll be hard for me to watch Matt like this if that's what they are going for, urgh. Do not go there, writers, please, Guza or GW or whatever, just...don't!

I get where you're coming from about Matt and it would truly be unfortunate if they go that way with him. I do hope they don't, but, like you said, we can easily expect the worst with this show. It's unfortunate that Guza has worn us down to such a point that we can't even trust GW. We'll have to see what the "turn" he previewed for Matt/Maxie/Spinelli this summer is and how Matt is involved.

M&M was the last thing I was watching this show for, and I can't tell you the last time I watched live. If there's an M&M scene, then I make sure I catch their scene(s) on YT. So I've already stopped investing in the show as a whole. I'm very prepared to stay uninvested if GW proceeds with Matt and M&M as we're sensing/dreading. Hopefully, he can pleasantly surprise us. Not counting on it, but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised, lol.

Yes. I love Maxie but with Spinelli she becomes horrible, so I will ff her scenes as well.

M&M have to stay together...I can NOT stomach Spixie happening again. No way. :nono: :no: On a happy note, I'm rewatching Classic Shelle clips as we speak. :love: :sigh:

ETA: I was just watching some older M&M scenes and I stumbled on the scene from last month when Maxie finds Robin's ring in Matt's pocket and flips out first, because she thinks he's going to propose to her, and then second, because she thinks he's going to propose to someone else! I about diiiied laughing when she hauled off and slapped him. :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: I love these two so freakin much...

That was a fantastic scene actually. It really showed that there are feelings there, but they kept the comedic aspect which makes them a lot of fun to watch.
