I think it's harder than it appears. Apparently he has a super conservative father, as people had mentioned, and also works in a completely male dominated field...and very macho at that. I think he's just protecting himself by trying to lead a normal life. I don't think he was really "using" Layla, he was trying to like her...but it's just not natural for him.
As much as people are angry with him, I can't imagine how angry at himself he is. He loves Kyle, knows he loves him too, but he can't give up his self-conscious ways to be with Kyle. That's a very self-punishing way to live and it has to be very heartbreaking. |

it's one thing for oliver to deny he's gay, but it's another to stop kyle from having a life of his own. even after kyle told christian what oliver wanted him too, he still goes and tries to bad mouth kyle? EW! and yea, i know it's because he has feelings for him, but still, not cool.
honestly though, i can't believe layla is being this passive about it all, especially with christian in her face EVERY scene! at first i thought they could handle this, but alas, i spoke too soon. whatever the hell, i'm still enjoying the kyle/fish scenes. i just wish christian would stop being the only person in town to run into them, jesus! |

The whole Kyle/Fish story is so cute. I'm looking forward to see they're being a happy couple... But I think that won't be soon, or will it?

Kyle is lying to Fish and himself. He is terrified of being hurt again. You know, he is being as afraid as Fish was this summer.
