Kelly Monaco, Emmy nominated actress, starred in Port Charles as Livvie Locke and Tess Ramsey before taking up her role as Sam McCall on General Hospital. In 2005, she won the first season of Dancing With The Stars. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2003 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Dama Series for her work on Port Charles and again in 2006 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on General Hospital.

Sam McCall was a con artist for most of her life and rarely stayed in one place. A short romance with Jasper "Jax" Jacks brought her to Port Charles, where she eventually found her birth mother, Alexis Davis. A fling with Sonny Corinthos, Port Charles' resident mob boss, left Sam pregnant and alone, until Sonny's best friend and mob enforcer, Jason Morgan offered to take care of her and her baby. When the baby was stillborn, Jason and Sam managed to help each other through their grief and along the lines, they fell in love. After being engaged for three years, they went through a messy break up, leaving Sam to seek revenge against Jason. Enter Detective Lucky Spencer. A relationship that started out of revenge soon turned into so much more when the two fell in love. During her time with Lucky, Sam discovered who she was, and that she loved danger and adrenaline. Sam realized that her love of danger and bending the rules did not mesh well with Lucky's love of the law and desire for domesticity. They split amicably, and Sam focused her energies on starting a new PI business. Sam and Jason began to reconnect and eventually reignited their relationship and re-declared their love.
