Before there was a Victoria, before there was a Colleen, before there was even a Mac, there was his Princess.

JT Hellstrom met Brittany Hodges in kindergarden,
when he borrowed his crayons to her on her very first day.
He didn't know how to handle his feelings from early on,
so instead of being nice to her, he started putting glue in her hair
and make her life a hell, and she returned the favor.
As teenagers, JT was the bad boy who constantly got in trouble
and Brittany was the popular manipulator who ran the school.
JT kept asking her out but she kept turning him down,
saying she wasn't interested in being one of his many conquests.
What she didn't realize was that JT was always serious about her.

"It must be so wonderful. Knowing you can lean on somebody that no matter what's going on in your life or theirs,
you'll always be able to count on each other."{Mac}

Brittany fell for Billy Abbott, not realizing he was already in love with Mac.
Despite JT's many attempts to pursue her away from Billy, it didn't work.
Not even after sleeping together, when JT thought he truly had a chance.
She told him again and again, that he needed to just wait
until she could get her revenge on Billy. Only, it never happened.
JT had to settle for just being her best friend,
a role he played well for many years to come.

Years later, Brittany burned her face pretty badly, leading her into a state of depression.
While everyone tried to get through to her, only one was able to do so - her best friend.
Despite new relationships, they gradually grew closer only Brittany was in denial,
while JT was forced to face the truth.
He was truly in love with her.

JT agreed to be the best man at Brittany's wedding to Bobby,
even though everything in him was screaming that she was making a mistake.
Mac kept telling him to own up to his feelings or
he'd lose her and would regret it for the rest of his life.
Despite everyone clueing Brittany in on JT's real feelings,
she refused to admit that she felt the same way.

{Come just as you are to me. Don't need apologises.
Know that you are worthy.}

"What about you and Britt?"
"She's married."
"What if she wasn't?" {Colleen}

Soon Brittany found out that she was pregnant.
Brittany turned to the one person who had
always been there for her to help her out one more time.
JT agreed to pretend to be Joshua's father
in order to protect Brittany and her baby.

"She moved to New York."
"That must be hard on you."
"What do you mean?"
"You pretended to be the baby's father.
You were there when he was born.
Seems to me that you and Brittany have a pretty close,
pretty intense friendship."
"Yeah, we go back."
"It's okay to admit you're going to miss her."
"Yeah... I guess I will." {Victoria}

As Bobby was pulled into witness protection,
JT continued to be Brittany's support system and they grew closer.
Mac, who was in love with JT, saw the connection
and felt threatened by it.
This time, JT was the one in denial about his feelings.
Brittany finally owned up to it after Bobby's death
but JT sadly picked Mac over her.
Something he'd forever come to regret.

His life was completely destroyed after she left. All his humor and appreciation for life more or less went away.
He tried to recapture the connection he had with Brittany in Colleen,
Mac and Victoria but all he got was cheating and lies in return.

"I know you're hurting Brittany and you feel alone."
"Yeah you'd like to ride in on your white horse and rescue me.
Because underneath that tough exterior, you're the world's biggest sweetheart.
But you can't do that and be with Mac too."

The bolded part of this part of the OP instantly made me think of how two men JT (and Billy) were both idiots who choose Mac over the women they truly should have been with.

Why the heck didn't JT pick Brittany when he had the chance?

I know. Sadly YR fired Lauren so that's how the story was chosen to go, even tho it made no sense.

I mean why on earth have JT say "this is how it has to be" if I am to assume he choose Mac by heart's desire? Oh and even after, he mentioned Brittany ever so often but it was always with so much regret (YR truly messed up with this pairing!).

Thad once said he always played it that JT's feelings for Brittany could always change (even when they were just "friends") because there was such a deep love there.

I met Lauren (besides Jeff and Liz) last year. It was so much fun!

I love that woman and she loved JT/Brittany too.

Dumb move Brittany was a great character and Brittany/JT had so much potential from the little I saw of them.

Well Jack Smith said that there was "no more story to tell for Brittany" which let's be honest was such BS.

There was plenty more to tell! Brittany was a well rounded character with connection to most of the cast.

Yeah. LW felt really cheated when YR did that to her, just because the actor playing Bobby was let go. And no one even liked Brittany and Bobby so it was a big what?

Gah, I wish my JT/Britt and Ronan could come back. I always felt this foursome would've made the most amazing group. I mean JT/Ronan already liked each other in 2010 when Thad left, which was fun since Ronan had only opened up and believed in JT at that point of his run.

My fangirl heart was beyond thrilled with that

Ronan wanted JT to join the force since he trusted his instincts and well, they even finished each other's sentences

I'm at least happy they're both in DC off screen so they're BFFs off screen in my world

That sounds bs, soaps are filled with characters that they just repeat stories because they don't know what to do or as filler. That just seems fishy.

Oh my goodness YES!! They would have been the perfect OT4. JT/Ronan and Chloe/Britt as besties. The boys could do there bro thing and the girls could trade notes about Billy and mock him for being a player, etc. Britt/Chloe would've been an unstoppable force of nature stirring up trouble together.

Ugh that show has such a shady way of treating some of their actors it would seem.

I believe the Chloe/Chelsea friendship died the very same day as Delia because Adam will always be between as the reason Chloe lost her precious beloved little girl. They've never been the same since then.

1999 - 2005. 1999 was started with Vanessa Evigan playing Brittany though until Lauren Woodland took over in 2000.
