It's not the writers, actually. Guza can WANT JJ back until the end of time, but ABC has to oblige him. The producers take the hit for this one.

Oh so let me get this, who is responsible for this? Guza or the producers?

LOL. Well, Guza WANTED JJ back. He always has. When JY was in the part, he flat-out said there was no point to Lucky Spencer without Jonathan Jackson (Tony, incidentally, said he'd rather they KILL Lucky than recast him after JJ because he couldn't picture anyone else in the role). But it wasn't up to Guza, it was up the producers. They would have been the ones who contacted JJ, the ones who told him Greg quit.

Okay, now that makes sense to me.

If that was the point, then I still have to wonder WHY do they still go ahead with recasts? If they think that's no point of bringing Lucky back without JJ, then they should have sticked with their word, but that's too late though.

Second, that thing got me wonder IF the producers didn't lie to JJ about Greg's leaving, do you think JJ would still take it, knowing that Greg still has a job? That's what got me wonder.

But hey, JJ is back on and that's all matters. But sometimes you have to wonder what if's and you can't help it yourself, ya know.

ABC contacted JJ many times over the years, even ones when Guza wasn't ruining/writing the show, to see if he wanted to reprise the role, so IDK what to really believe. Maybe this time he took it because the timing matched up for him and they told him the role was being vacated with or without him when they made this specific offer?

Anyway, he was AWESOME today. The writing for Lucky was terrific too.

The thing is, this is a highly cutthroat business. It happens all the time. When Greg took the role of Diego on Y&R, I believe the prior actor got fired (that was...not a shame, lol, if I remember correctly). They don't think about it like that. They can't. JJ is being more gracious than 9 out of 10 actors in his place would be by acknowledging he's sorry and he thinks Greg is a wonderful person and he doesn't like to think about someone losing their job.

Yeah, that's so true! Even not on tv business, but people do get fired horribly and harshly out there in the world due to others replacing them in their position. So yeah, this shouldn't be all about remorseful feeling or whatever, just no feeling. Stick with business and get it over with and move on. I should have known that tv business is like that because fans get attached to the actor and when they find out something like that, they get affected too.

What bothered me about this, honestly, wasn't so much the firing. I mean, I'm very sorry for the ones who considered him THEIR Lucky, and that probably sounds insincere, but I am. I know what it's like to lose your Lucky. I'm glad to have mine back, I can't say I'm not (obviously, lol), but I am in no way laughing at or mocking his fans who are upset, I completely understand, I really do. But like I said, actors get fired every day, roles get recast all the time on soaps. Nor was it them initially saying he "left to pursue other opportunities"- even at companies I worked for, that's code for "Fired, but can't say so for liability reasons." It was the ridiculous PERSISTING in "HE TOLD US TO TELL PEOPLE HE QUIT!" Then why did he go onto Twitter, you morons, lol.

To be clear, I wouldn't have blamed Jon even if he had been the one to call up Frons/JFP and inquire about getting the role back. Gotta provide however you can.

It's just none of the stories we've heard really match up, from any side, even when you cut it down, and GH/ABC wanting JJ over GV or JY wasn't regime specific.

Exactly. I think this would be completely different situation if Greg didn't tweet that "day" when the news came out. At least JJ would have his back and be like, "Well he quitted it, so there you go." But instead Greg beat them all and would humiliate himself to say that. I gotta say that he had some guts to say that but now fans are out there, pissing all over about them, etc.

Yes, JJ was once Lucky, and they gotta understand the fact that he WAS Lucky before everybody else, so he has every rights to come back for it. And Guza has every rights to feel that way. He was once Lucky, and how can you argue with that?

Watching the Lucky scenes today...and I adored all of them..

But the Luke/Lucky one has to be one of my favorite scenes on GH in awhile! Such a character driven moment, for both Luke and Lucky. For moment, even though you knew the Niz plot was behind it all,I almost forgot about it and saw it simply as an indirect conversation about the mess that is Lucky/Luke's relationship right now.

Of course the Cam/Jake stuff killed me but you have to admit that while TG brings out great things in JJ,JJ brings out amazing things in TG - in ways that I don't think anyone but Genie can.For the first time in ages,I actually saw the pain in Luke's eyes when Lucky was talking about his love for his sons (since you could see Lucky was kind of indirectly contrasting it to his current relationship with Luke).

You could feel the pain both of them have in regards to their relationship and I just LOVE that JJ can bring that out again.I loved GV but I don't think TG ever felt comfortable with him so you could never get that from the father/son relationship

That last part is absolutely true- they wanted him under McTavish, too. He was beloved in the role. Not just popular, but truly beloved. He is a three time Emmy winner. He is adored by Tony to the point where Tony has no interest in the character without the actor. He was one half of one of the last emerging supercouples GH had. I doubt ABC ever would have stopped occasionally offering him the role.

Just finished watching the episode...can I just say how frickin amazing Jonathan is? That scene when he was talking to Liz at the hospital, wiped his tears and walked away blew me away.

He's still got it.

^Yeah, exactly.

I am watching few old school LL2 clips. I gotta love Liz for trying to get job at Kelly's just to be close to Lucky. Where is that girl we need? That girl was so smitten with him back then. Gah. That girl is NOT Liz right now who is lustin' after his brother.

Aww, I kind of remember that Raddy !

Yeah, it's just confusing. I don't understand why she's being this way, she has the most amazing guy who loves her more than anything in the world. They have to end the Niz stuff soon. I just want Lucky and Liz to be happy.
