It is. Too bad GH doesn't write like it.

GH stopped being pretty soapy & campy in the 90s but I get what you are saying. GH has never been the soap full of backstabbing and intrigue...it needs to get back to it's soap roots.
GH now is all over the place with plot holes and rewrites. We get one extreme to the next. With Guza it was shoot outs and with RC it's dead babies and crazy people running around. __________________

How was it campy?

In the 80s the whole Ice Princess thing (freezing the world) & Casey the Alien (Robin's little friend). GH wasn't as dark during that time. It had it's serious moments but there was a lot of actions, good guys, and saving the day.
Then when Robert & Anna were killed. L&L's return. Bringing the mob back...introducing Sonny. Stone dying of AIDS. BJ's Heart. The show became a lot more real and darker. It still had it's soapy moments but it got pretty gritty. Then Guza came...you had clink-boom. __________________

I thought you meant it was campy in the 90's.
I would love to see episodes of the show from the 80's. I got into GH around the time of click-boom or maybe a little before. I remember seeing Carly's first scenes when I watched. Plus JC and their first time ect. __________________

JC seeing each other for the first time was um...it was good.
I remember this Sonny, Carly, and Jason scene. Where Sonny said Jason knew who Carly was the first moment he laid on eyes her. It's so true. Jason had that grin on his face and Carly had that look too. __________________

Oops. Sorry it took so long for me to answer you. It happened a few months before hate sex. Sonny was pissed off at Carly for butting into his business with Hannah. Jason was defending Carly. Sonny was acting pretty vicious. He said something along the lines that Jason has always known who Carly is. Which is pretty much true. In the beginning Jason didn't know anything about Carly but he figured out pretty quickly she was trouble and she lied A LOT. She did crazy things.
That's why I always find it weird when it's expected that Jason someday will open his eyes and see Carly for who she really is. When Jason has always known what & who Carly is. These new writers really suck. Just a different version of Guza. __________________

I think I remember that scene now.
Jason has always accepted who Carly is and never wanted to change her. __________________

Carly never has wanted to change Jason either.
Both love and accept each other for who they are. __________________

That's what you do when you really love somebody.
