I hate triangles as a general rule. But I thought the Jax/Brenda/Sonny triangle were well done. I was a Brenda/Sonny fan.

Ditto that. I'm not a huge fan of them at all, because triangles tend to give the writers an easy out. Throw a little something to each fanbase at a shot so that they don't have to commit to one pairing or the other.
But I agree, the Sonny/Brenda/Jax triangle was well done. I was/am a S/B fan too, but I never DISliked J/B, and I think that's the secret to a good triangle, being pulled in both directions. __________________

Most triangles are sloppy and look more like the writers decided to be lazy. But some can be good when they are well done and there is chemitry between both possible couples.
Bad Triangle: Days: Phillip/Belle/Shawn Belle being stupid married Phillip on the rebound while still being in love with Shawn. Belle and Phillip have no chemitry and they are both boring. He is really annoying as he rubs his "perfect" marriage in Shawn's face. And all Phillip talks about is either sex with Belle or how great a couple Shawn and Mimi will make. It's a one sided triangle where the girl stays married because she feels guilty into staying in her loveless marriage. Good Triangle: Days: Belle/Shawn/Mimi Even though this Belle doesn't have as much chemistry with Shawn as the old one did. She does have more romantic chemistry with Shawn than Phillip. But while she is married, Shawn has taken their breakup with mature behavior. He has accepted Belle's choice to stay with idiot Phillip and is starting to see Mimi in a different light. Shawn and Mimi click well onscreen and have good chemistry together. And it's so amusing watching jealous Belle fume over their new found relationship that it's actually enjoyable to watch. __________________

Best triangle Jax/Brenda/Sonny I'm a Jax/Brenda fan but during the triangle I didn't hate Sonny. I no longer watch GH because the writers can't write a storyline worth watching anymore. But if Vanessa Marcil ever came back I would start watching GH again Love her.

Like everybody else the Sonny/Brenda/Jax triangle was a good one.
The one I hated the most was probably Zander/Emily/Nikolas. I use to love all three characters. I loved original ZEm and I liked them for a while when Natalia took over the role as Emily but then then came the cancer/triangle story which made me hate Emily and Nikolas so much. They re-wrote so much history and started demonizing Zander and it made me just loathe the triangle. ~Amy |

Yeah, I agree with most here. The best one that was done was Sonny/Brenda/Jax. I never really liked the Jax character, but i didn't hate him. What was so good about it was that even though there was tension and everything, the storyline wasn't solely based on that little triangle. There were other things happening to the characters on the show, so it really wasn't a "I want Sonny today, and tomorrow it'll be Jax's turn' kinda storyline. Which is what triangles today seem to be like to me. I am and always will be an S&B fan, but i must admit that was one well done triangle. Back when the writing was good.

What about quadrangles? 'Cause I'd say J.T./Mac/Brittany/Kevin is a bad 'quadrangle'

Heh, well you could fit Sonny/Brenda/Jax into that group too, if you add Lily into the mix. She wasn't around for most of the triangle, but she played a big part in why it existed in the first place.

The best was Roman/Marlena/John in 1991-1994. That one was amazing. Deidre Hall had chemistry with both men and you didn't hate one of them men in the triangle and you understood Marlena's side.
Also loved the Stefano/Marlena/John triangle, even if that wasen't a love triangle. |

What makes this one so bad is that Ethan seems to enjoy this game of having two women fighting over him. Theresa needs to get over her obsession with him and Gwen certainly deserves better. |

I hate triangles that are one-sided. Like the Sami/Austin/Carrie triangle that last nearly a decade. During most of that decade, two parts of the triangle (A & C) were completely clueless as to the other part's (S) machinations. Completely useless and annoying. Also hate: Theresa/Ethan/Gwen. I'd better not even start discussing it, because my post would be three feet long. I can sum it up in one word: HATE. |

Exactly. You knew Marlena loved Roman deeply, she didn't settle for him. She did love him. Her love for John was just deeper and more passionate. But that triangle was so well written. The Theresa/Ethan/Gwen triangle sees dumb.

I agree with cherrios regarding the current DOOL triangles.
I also agree, I loved the Jax/Brenda/Sonny triangle. I leaned more towards Jax/Brenda, though. One of the worst triangles was Sami/Austin/Carrie on DOOL and Chloe/Phillip/Brady towards the end when Phillip turned psycho. __________________
