I love that in As Fast As She Can (just like in the episode where Barney runs the NY marathon), Ted is Barney's first phone call when he's in trouble.

Totally. Ted pretends like he doesn't like it. But he so does.

When I was first watching the series, all of like 3 weeks ago online, I think one of the things that sold me on the series was in Sweet Taste of Liberty where Ted is really mad at Barney and asks him why he has to come along and Barney says it's because he's his best friend and Ted doesn't have to say that Barney is his. That killed me. I just awwwed all over the place.
