Hum... I wonder why Lily would want to break them up...

Hmmm, I just watched it. I really feel the fat suit just wasn't a good idea . . . it was too extreme and, therefore, not that funny.
I don't know. It felt like they had them break up just to have them break up - it was too soon. It didn't feel authentic. __________________

Agree with the fat suit. I think that Robin's tired/old look was fine, but not the fat suit. It was noticeable enough in the beginning.
I didn't like the way the break up was handled either. I just feel like saying they weren't happy just kind of developed this episode only. Wasn't believable. __________________

Having been spoiled I have known about this for a while, and I haven't watched it yet (and not sure I will so fast) but I have trouble believing that this is for real. I am pretty sure they will be back at some point this season, but who knows when

I was spoiled as well, but I'm still disappointed. I knew they were going to breakup, but not like this. I didn't like this episode. I agree about the fat suit being too much. That really wasn't funny at all. Also, Barney saying on the tape something along the lines of "I'm not really happy although I might look happy" was bizarre. They should have ignored the tape knowing that Robin was the one girl Barney would try to have a real relationship with. That tape must have been very, very old.
I really think this was a bad decision, and I can't see too many people being happy about this. |

I agree, a very very bad decision. |

Well, I am new to the show . . . ended up buying all the dvds and recently watched the whole series in a month's time. I was wondering if my "new-ness" made my perception off, but I see that others agree about this epi.
The thing is, they changed both characters dramatically during just this episode in order for the break-up to occur. I don't get it. __________________

Oh wow, the episode was horrible. If they wanted to break up B/R they could have found another way, not using them was a comic relief with the fat suit. Seriously, the episode didn't make sense.

in my humble opinion this was one of the worst episode of the season. first barney gets fat, then him and robin get engaged, then they break up? all in one episode? I agree this was kind of disappointing.
but I'm looking forward to the next ep "The Playbook", its more entertaining when Barney is womanizing lol. |

I actually didn't mind the way they broke up. I was just glad they realised it themselves and it wasn't all Lily's fault like the description made it sound. I don't need Lily being vilified!

I thought it was terrible, completely out of character and forced, and made absolutely no sense after the way BR ended the last episode. The fat suit stuff wasn't funny. I know it was Ted's exagerration but I think the episode could have had a lot more emotional impact if it didn't seem so over-the-top and ridiculous. The engagement thing was just silly. Ugh, them breaking up didn't really bother me when I heard about it because I thought they could do it well, but this was just played as one big joke
It annoys me that that part was so awful because the rest of it was really funny. Loved Lily stealing the porn video, and the fact that she really didn't want to interfere until she thought it was totally necessary. And Marshall/Ted's lame ways of breaking them up. Seeing more BR fights which were all amusing. Loved that on Barney's first night back to singledom, he abandons it to go searching for Robin's variety show we so have to see that at some point, heh. Although, how did the others know that Alan Thicke was in SitS? Only Barney saw it! __________________

This episode was dreadful and cringeworthy. I knew about the breakup ahead of time and I was NEVER worried or too bothered because I thought it would be handled great, like how HIMYM always handles things. I don't know how I could have been so wrong. The fat suit thing especially.... I have no clue what they were thinking there. I hope the writers can fix this mess they made but I'm not too hopeful at the moment.
