I agree it didn't mean anything to B/R until season 3, but Zip, Zip, Zip is what launched so many shippers and what made the writers decide there was something there that could be explored.

I love that they frame Barney's development by his relationship with Robin.

For some reason my mind read that as 'goalpost of THEM getting married' and I did a very non-mental happy dance cause I thought we'd finally gotten our answer

Yeah, people will leave the show if they decide not to have Robin marry Barney cause there are alot of BroTP shippers.
