The Rough Patch is the one episode I refuse to re-watch. I just can't deal with the BS they gave us.

5x17 makes me tear up every time I watch.

Season 6 has been pretty good for them (and for the show as a whole). Such an improvement from s5.

6x01 - "You sundressed up"
6x04 - Barney tackling Ted so she'd win
6x06 - The most amazing, strong, independent woman he's ever banged
6x10 - Museum fun
6x17 - Though their scenes were about Nora, it still felt very much about them

I agree so much. Possibly the worst break-up I've ever seen. It was actually painful to watch, and not in a good way. The whole thing was just so forced and stupid.

At least S6 has BR back to being their usual awesome selves.

Agreed. Lamest breakup ever. If you're going to break them up, at least give us a legit reason that makes sense not the 2 awesomes cancel each other out bull we got. Not to mention they had them look the way they did during the scene which was annoyingly distracting and just made me more pissed off.

I get the logic behind the appearance, but seriously, the fat suit just ruined any of NPH's facial acting abilities.

And there's even more then those S6 eps that have some great scenes too I believe

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some hint as to there having actually BEEN a relationship between these two!!! Episode 5.17 is sadly my favourite episode this season. It was even better than the episodes they were together in! Well, after 5x03. Is it absolutely horrible that I absolutely loved seeing Robin upset about it? lol

Thinking about it on a less emotional level, it did make sense that they had Barney throw himself back into sex so soon after the break up. It's just not in his character to wallow...much. I do wonder whether we're (meaning me) going to see an episode that show's him being broken up over the break up? Doubt it? Yeah...

It was really sweet on Barney's part to not sleep with JLO even though Robin wouldn't have ever found out. The scene at the shooting range was too sweet for words. I wanted it to be longer. And awe, the look he gives her when she's doing the bang-bang song. Which is awesome, btw. It was just so cute seeming him half smile at her happiness.

YAY! I'm happy again.

Yeah, 5x17 is a great one, I actually wrote a fic that follows Barney's thoughts after it, actually that episode spawned alot of fanfics

It's either 5x20 or 5x21 we get a very drunk Barney having feelings.

I hope these writers eventually get their heads out of there asses and put them back together cause they are the awesomest.

So I just watched the Rough Patch for the first time since it aired after saying I'd never do it and sure it brought back the bitterness, but this part actually made me hopeful.

"And I mean who knows maybe when like you turn 40 if you haven't found anyone."
"Oh, I already have that deal with Ted."
"Oh, right. Stupid. Well maybe when you turn 39 if you haven't found..."
(They laugh and leave the restaurant)

And then we get Ted's voiceover:

It turns out that they really did just need to let things run their course.

See, and that's why I think this was just a matter of the writers not knowing how to handle it, cause that line always made me wonder. Though little comments the writers make in interviews every so often make me hopeful too.

THIS! seriously, i might have been okay with them breaking up, if it wasn't the lamest break up ever. at least ted/robin had that sad, touching break up, but the BR one can't even be used in fanvids without looking stupid that just pisses me off to no end.
and the '2 awesomes cancel each other out' was pure BS, and such a lazy writing. if they'd have made the effort, BR could be awesome squared (found an urban dictionary defition of it : Something that is so awesome, that in order to comprehend its awesomness, you must multiply it by itself.) but they really didn't even tried. it's just so much wasted potential, so sad. when i think of S4 and all the amazing build up.. le sigh.

but! i do have hope still

I know right! The writers don't know their maths. Awesome + Awesome = 2 Awesomes. That is the equation that proves BR works.

I really can't remember why they break up, but did they explain it??

That lines gave me hope that they probably end up together in the future, but if they ever plan to get back and I would like to see why they want to be together than rushing into it.. Since they have amazing friendship that can turn into something real for them...
