Yes, She asked him to be her best man because she wanted him to be there when she freaks out. It was foreshadowing her wedding freakout

I found the dialogue

Robin: Hey, Ted, if I, um, if I ever get married and you're not the guy I'm marrying...
Ted:Big mistake, but go on.
Robin:I could really use someone like you. You know, in case I freak out.When I freak out. You interested?
Ted:Are you asking what I think you're asking?
Robin: Ted, will you be my best man?
Ted: Scherbatsky, I'm gonna crush it!

Ohh, so Robin was anticipating freaking out, huh? And perhaps she wanted Ted to be her best man in case she needed to run out on her wedding and wanted him there?
