Him
Theodore Evelyn Mosby is portrayed by Josh Radnor. In 2030, Ted sat down to tell
his kids the story of how he met their mother. Beginning in 2005, Ted's meandering
journey has taken him through many failed relationships, including being left at the
altar. But the architect-turned-professor isn't giving up on his search for the perfect woman.

Her
Robin Charles Scherbatsky, Jr. is portrayed by Cobie Smulders. She is a
Scotch-drinking, cigar-smoking, gun-toting Canadian pop-star-turned-journalist-turned-
morning-show-host. Robin befriended the gang in 2005 after an awkward date with Ted
Mosby. She is the fiercely independent woman of the group who also has a hidden soft side.

lol I didn't mean literally fun..there are quite a few Ted and Robin shippers on there we just get downvoted if we dare say anything nice about them and the ending. I've mentioned parts of your argument and all they can is is "well they shouldn't have spent so much time telling us how bad they were for each other and how great B and R were" haha please

Okay, that part of the argument I agree with. Bays and Thomas were a little too zealous with their misdirection and their narrative about how people change over time, and how people might not be right for each other at one point in their lives, but then as they grow and change over time they end up being right for each other later on. Yeah, we get it. But I do agree that the writers overdid it, as well as overplaying their misdirection for the sake of a surprise ending. They needed to lead up to Ted and Robin getting back together a bit better and not waste so much time with that other pairing, you know?

Well, I agree to a certain extent. They didn't work because of life goals. That was really the main obstacle. It's when people say they were incompatible. I feel that Ted brought out Robins soft and emotional side where as the other relationship made her an insecure, screaming hot mess. It was a missed opportunity in season 9 to put more focus on Ted and Robin but I guess they couldn't make their endings to obvious

Thanks for the article! It was spot on! I’m gonna show it to people when they tell me the ending doesn’t make sense. It makes me sad that people don’t see the beauty in it. All the clues would have been for nothing had it ended another way..not to mention boring. Wouldn’t another clue be that Bob Saget was the narrator? After all he started in a hit show where he played a widower who struggled with moving on from his late wife..hmmm

And while I agree with you, I do think that the final season stretch(the wedding) kinda soured the ending a little for people, so I do understand. I wish that they hadn't spent so much time on that and spent more time on explaining how Ted and Robin slowly get back together.

Yeah, I get that part to. In all honesty the show went on longer than it should have. It was more about the money in the end and the show suffered for it. I am on the 9th season now and I’m struggling to get through it..I’ll probably just watch the Ted/Robin ones

Yeah, I have the same issue.

I normally stick to seasons 1 and 2 because they have all the great Ted and Robin stuff. After season 2 you really have to look for good Ted and Robin stuff here and there. The Burning Beekeeper is a good one.

So is Doppelgangers, and Benefits.

Oh, and Sunrise, of course.

Well, I wouldn't put it past Bays and Thomas to deliberately make Robin that way as part of their misdirection to keep audiences from guessing that Robin would end up with Ted in the end. I get the storyline because it's the same as the movie Definitley, Maybe.

But the way they did it got annoying.

Oh, The Burning Beekeeper is a good one. A lot of people don’t like it but I think it’s a great episode. It was a clue of what was to come in season 7

Their misdirection did get out of hand. I wish they stayed focus on the endgame a little more. I never saw Definitely, Maybe but I’ll have to check it out now.
