MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — Three months have passed since the Patriots and Giants clashed during Super Bowl XLII in Arizona. But on May 17, players from both teams will reunite at the star-studded gala party to celebrate the opening of the $700 million MGM Grand at Foxwoods.

Ed Kane’s Shrine will be the site of one of two after-parties. The other will be hosted by music and fashion mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs at his nightclub/restaurant “Diddy’s Den,” The Den has a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, making it the largest column-free ballroom in North America, according to Foxwoods.

The MGM Grand has invited 5,000 people total to its opening.

“All the Patriots, all the New York Jets and New York Giants players are invited, and I’m told many are coming,” said Randy Greenstein, marketing specialist for Big Night Entertainment, which Kane founded. “The space is literally halfway between New York and Boston,” he said.

DJ A.M will spin at Shrine that evening, joined by celebrities including Jenny McCarthy, Eva Amurri, Nick Cannon, Kim Kardashian, Chace Crawford and Penn Badgley.
“John Mayer and Josh Groban are performing in the theater, and there could be a surprise act,” Greenstein said.

Other locals include Kiss 108’s Matt Siegel and Billy Costa, plus auto dealer Herb Chambers.

Shrine will also have some star power for Memorial Day weekend, with a lineup that includes Brody Jenner, Carmen Electra and her ex, Dave Navarro, playing guitar live while DJ Skribble spins.

Shrine will throw its own formal grand opening party on June 19 – smaller and separate from the MGM bash. “We’re not sure who yet will be there, but we have offers out to a ton of A-listers,” Greenstein said.
