No one was yelled at, I only suggested that poster and everyone else in that argument to keep in mind that people can have different opinions, and respect should be the key for discussion. And I mean that.
If you're not gonna accept that your opinion is an opinion and others are entitled to think differently, there's no point of taking part in a discussion.
General assumptions regarding posters or the fandom in general should be left out. If you can't talk to a poster with the same respect you want to be shown at you, don't do it.

I am a new poster. I am in disagreement with a large amount of the complaints on this thread. I have lingered around these forums for a while and was shocked to see that new posters are recieving hate for never having posted before. Not having posted here does not invalidate your opinion and putting someone down over it is ridiculous.

Now that I have said that. I agree with the mother about Franky's freak out. I also think that people are crying OOC like someone would cry wolf. We haven't even had an episode that gets into the character's heads yet. They may have perfectly valid reasons for their actions that we are not aware of yet. Franky's character makes total sense to me at this point. She's afraid of labels afraid of obligations. She doesn't want to play a role as "girlfriend." Everyone's reactions, saying she is a ***** and all for pushing Matty away just proves that this refusal of the good girlfriend role is still as shocking and anti-establishment as her dressing masculine or being pansexual or into people. However, because it effects other characters for the first time ever people are upset about it. Her personality cannot be so free without some consequences.

Mini/Alo is a secret, which makes sense, and also I felt that Mini just wanted someone to mess around with. That is understandable. Also I feel that she was reacting to Franky to a certain extent. Maybe that's just Minky reading into it but I try to be on the ship wars fence.

In other words, until we get private interior persepectives don't judge OOC.

Good things I can think of right now without rewatching;
Hardlet remain flawless
The Mini/Nick scene was lovely
The Nick/Matty talk at the pool
Rider is growing on me somehow
Nick and Liv were my favourites this episode
Morocco was a good choice for filming
Actually, I think the first 10 mins was all pretty good, I was hoping I had been wrong to assume bad things

As for the rest of it, well it was messy. Alo seemed too exaggerated, I'm wondering what his "funny" episode will be like. Mini was ooc. Malo was completely rushed (and for some reason reminded me a bit of Daisy/Abbud from the US version) and came off awfully. Matty I liked until the end when I got angry with him- I've since thought about it and it seems as if he was in shock and scared, however he could've at least called for an ambulance.

Then for Franky I honestly can't decide what I think she didn't seem the same girl anymore for a lot of it. Plus, I understand she was bored in her relationship with Matty, thats fine, but would the girl from s5 have been so harsh about it?

I agree Rich, Grace, Nick, and Liv were awesome in this episode.

I agree that Alo came across as a bit strange. However loved the Alo attack hug of Rich at the beginning. Also about knicking people's **** who make him feel inferior.

For the most part I think we are supposed to be a bit ****ed with in episode 1. We don't know the details yet so I am holding off too much judgment about Mini and Franky's portrayal.

Would Series 5 Franky react this way?

It's hard to say. I know people who basically have a fight or flight response to feeling suffocated. I think Franky has many issues and skeletons in her closet that have yet to surface. The more I watch the more I feel like Franky was in the "OMG I AM DYING FIGHT OR FLIGHT" mode. Which means you act irrationally, impulsive, and you say ****ing twisted ****. My friend isn't mean she just can't handle it. I think the same goes for Franky. I am waiting to see what is next for her character before I declare her completely derailed.

Despite having its good moments I kept enjoying the episode less and less as it went on and in the end a lot of what happened seemed to be a mess. They tried to set the tone for the season but the main plot with those two dudes felt rather forced or maybe I just didn't like them at all.

And when her episode comes people will react to it. But until then we only have this first episode to go and one is not going to sit there watching it and think "let me wait 5 weeks till they explain this so I can be happy or sad".
It's natural people react to it as they see it cause that's all we have for now.
Franky in this episode was a bit too angry and aggressive. I think at times, most times, that came really off and it's especially strange if one remembers how she was last season, the girl who tried to keep peace everywhere. Now she arrives and brings the storm and seems to have no patience for anyone or anything.
The issues she seemed to be having are understandable, at least from what I thought was the story they were trying to tell. But the execution didn't come out very well, Franky came crashing from the first second, and it was hard to connect with the character and understand her actions.

I really liked Nick in this episode. Nick's interactions with Matty and Mini were my favourite, the part with Mini felt really natural and probably the best dialogue in the episode.
Even though she didn't have a sl going in this episode I also enjoyed what we got of Liv, simple and subtle, but she's got that understanding of the situations.
Rich was both funny, bit ott and heartbreaking, Alex does an outstanding job. Rich and Grace's scenes came in a weird way in the context of the episode, I don't think it was the editing but maybe the writing trying to give this peaceful and happy vibe before the crash. However, the moment Grace comes on my screen I'm wishing her to go away, I can't really get into her character, so I'm not the best to judge scenes with her.
Alo was not my cup of tea in this episode, I think it's easy to get OTT with his character and they went over with him.
Mini is always a great presence tbh, at her worst when she's so eager to get with the horniest guy in town, at her best when she's being honest and saying some meany things but that come off funny or when she's worried about the others.
Oh, and I didn't mind Matty. There's probably potential in his character that will never be explored. Even though his relationship with Franky didn't turn out well, he seemed to try to do the best thing and he understood what her issue was. He faced the whole thing better than her. Him running away from the accident was very in character.

On a different note, I wasn't impressed with the directing as I usually am with Skins. Of course there were pretty shots, especially due to the place where they were, but there wasn't anything special or typical Skins shot. Idk how to explain, it just felt like a sloppy job counting on Morocco's pretty colours.

Thats interesting . I will try to wait to see what happens with her. However at the moment I find it impossible to relate her to s5 Franky. Especially the scene where she ripped into Matty in front of everyone and told him they would now be able to talk to other people I just didn't see her.

I and I think anyone else fighting to be hopeful. I don't think we mean "you have no right to be angry" or say your opinion. I mean those are your feelings to own and your opinions to say.

I just like to put in a bit of optimism and wait/see. For my own psychological reasons. Mostly because I have had in the past been pissed and crazy about something only later figure out there was no reason too. It's my own energy level that I am trying to kind of talk up. Then I know people who are getting negative but want to be talked through it. Then there are people who are just upset or don't like it. No matter where you are--it's all good.

So when I am putting positive stuff out there or explanations. It is not because I want to talk YOU out of your feelings and opinions. It is because I am trying to MYSELF through my own thoughts and feelings. Just wanted to clarify. Sometimes tone gets lost in the internet world and people get offended when people meant no harm!

Who the fu wrote this ep? I am not amused. These aren't the characters I liked from last series.

Mini is so OOC it's crazy. I mean, last series she had so many body/intimacy issues it was ridiculous. The kind that don't go away a few months later. And now she's more than happy to just jump on Alo? I love Alo and I love Mini, but I call bullsht on this. Happened way too fast to be believable. /come at me

Rich felt a bit OOC for me too. I just think back to 5x08 and I think THAT Rich, the Rich who didn't even want to cut his metal hair, would've never worn pink under any circumstances. idk...

Also was Alo this horny last series? He did wank a bit, but this series he can't even control himself sitting a van? He's like a walking boner now... Christ.

Liv, Grace and Nick (and Matty too, I suppose) were fine as far as characterization goes, but I imagine it was only because they didn't get too much screen time.

And Franky... was just a little irritating.

I've been pretty good about staying away from spoilers, so I'm interested to see how this Grace/coma thing plays out. I was about to lose it when Rich started frowning at the party after the crash. I don't want anyone to die this series.

edit: AH, it was BE who did this. Not totally surprising that he doesn't get the characters, as I think he was in the US with Skins US when series 5 was being written/filmed. Still really disappointed though.


Happy to see these guys back on my screen, but that's about all I'm happy about unfortunately.
