Possible Board Closure Discussion: Please Read and Respond! Update: Board closure on Sept.20th!
 

Erin and me have been discussing this, and we think that it may be time to close this board. Our post counts have been declining over the past few months and we have very few regular posters. As you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 15 posts per day, with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure of the board. We would prefer to go out under our own terms rather than be forced to close due to low post counts.

Please let us know what you think. We'd be glad to hear any suggestions or advice to renew interest here. Remember that to keep the board going, we need the commitment of a few regular, dedicated posters. As much as we love this board, please don't just post to "save" the board and then disappear again, because we'll be in the same position that we're in now if you do.

So here we are, actually starting this thread. The possibility of the closure felt inevitable for a long time, but finally making this choice was very hard for me and Erin, it took us a few days to make peace with our decision. We got really attached to this board, as we've been fighting so hard to keep it alive for a year mainly just by ourselves with a very few regular posters dropping in. We met each other here and this board means a lot to us, but no matter how much we love it, there is only so much you can talk about when it's just the two of you. It's incredibly sad to see a board with more than 1 million posts turn into a hangout of just two people. Skins used to be huge, but it ended in 2013 and most fans lost interest in posting here. Now we think that it's time for us to move on as well.
With such low traffic on the board we thought that the most realistic option would be to close it down, but if anyone here is interested in applying, let us know.

It is so sad to stop by and see this thread topped :( I would hate to see the board go, but it's your decision. In the end Skins has been over for a while and it's time to move on :(

Yeah, I feel like this board's been in a coma for quite a while, and me and Erin were its life support, but it's time to let it die in piece as heartbreaking as it is:(

Diana! :hug: I'm so sorry about this, sadly I never watch Skins so I could help you out on here. I completely understand your decision as I'm going through the same, it's tough keeping a board alive, just know that I'm here to support you. :kiss:

Aw Mel:hug: We tried our best. But it's time to let go. Posting here becomes more and more of a challenge, and it's not really how it should be.

Thanks to everyone for your support! :hug: I really think Skins had its heyday and made an impact, but since it's been over people just kind of moved on. Diana and I have been going back and forth about the decision for months, but ultimately we can't really see generating enough sustainable interest and we couldn't think of anyone who would want to replace us as mods. :shrug:

Yeah we tried everything, but it seems like this board only ever attracts ppl to come and die here :P

Aww guys its sad to see this here but I very much understand. I think a lot of interest in Skins was killed in its last few years and as time has passed people cant even be mad about it anymore so its not surprising everything has slowed down. From what I've seen you've both done a fantastic job keeping it going this long :hug:

I'm so sorry about this. I have never watched Skins, but I know how passionate Diana is about it, and to have come to this decision it must've been really hard :(
Being able to keep the board active proves that you both did an amazing job as mods here, and I hope that with this thread, it brings out people that like the show and try to keep it going longer :)

So sorry to hear this Di. :hug: Really wish I could have watched at least the first season and helped out with some posting. You guys seem to have really did all you could especially given how tough it is sometimes to have active boards even when the show is still running, let alone when the show has been over for years. So at least you can take small solace in that you did all you could to make this a great place to post for the remaining posters here. :hug:

This board was the best :cool: I can't help but think that with social networks and such the forum era is almost gone, but this board will always be one of the coolest places on the internet! And we should definitely open/resurrect a Skins thread at the main TV board and keep being off topic there!! :D

Yeah it makes me super sad tbh, I've always preferred forums to anything else.
I'm afraid the mods of TV board will have a little problem with that:lmao: But anyway, all of you are welcomed in the OTs on Gotham and Penny Dreadful :group_hug:
