Pardon me being on topic for a moment, but after weeks of binge-watching I need to praise Naomi and Emily for a bit
As much as TV has changed for the better in the last few years, because LGBT couples are so much more common to find today than just a few years ago (and I love this), there is almost a 'trend' now to include lgbt storylines in a show merely to get people talk about it. This I find harder to like, because characters are often misused. I'm thinking about the latest storyline in Pretty Little Liars (no spoilers just in case ), or the stereotypical gay relationship I've just watched in the Originals, or many other shows sadly.
For all the flaws I've attributed to the writers those years, I have to recognise that they managed to avoid all stereotypes with Naomily. They shared first and foremost a love story and they were probably the first LGBT couple to get such a fair treatment.
It's a pity that they killed that storyline in S7 because they had managed to do one thing right and to do it first

despite the many issues I have with the show, I have to agree. It's amazing how ground breaking they were even in 2009 now lgbt characters are used for buzz
