So I just got done watching S5 for the first time, and I've gotta say, I'm not a fan. I can really see why people don't like it.

IMO, its just that none of the characters are immediately likeable or accessible. There's no stand outs really like Tony, Chris, Cook or Freddie. And I think the relationships suffer for it, I just didn't buy that the characters actually liked each other. I think its because you rarely see anyone unless its their episode. I always though earlier seasons did a good job of keeping you updated on everyone even when they weren't the main character for this episode, but here you rarely get that.

Like, for example, Rich and Grace. They start going out in episode 2, but then nothing happens at all to them unless Grace's episode near the end. Same with Mini and Nick, and Matty and Franky.

Theres also nothing really driving the story on, no core plot point, everyones just got their own little problems. I hate to compare gens, but in S3, you always had the Cook/Freddie/Effy thing as the central plot point (although I much prefer Naomi/Emily) and I think it gives the series a purpose that S5 lacks.

Also, why introduce Chris Addison's character in S4 then completely change him in S5?

From what I've heard, S6 is even worse, is it even worth watching it at this point?

I've seen people who didn't like S5 enjoy S6 because they think it was more interesting, so I guess it's up to you

More interesting would definitely be a plus. But I don't think I wanna sit and watch these characters anymore, none of them are particularly interesting to me. Unless they focus on one particular story or character more, I can't see myself enjoying it.

I'll be honest, I didn't find it 'interesting', more over the top tbh But I also enjoyed S5 so to each their own I agree that there was no plot core in S5 though.
S6 is definitely focused on a particular character, most of the episodes are about Franky, Mini and maybe Alo. The other characters have secondary roles.

S5 is very character driven, which is much more like real life imo, but I understand its not everyones cup of tea. However I honestly wouldnt bother with s6

I think I'd prefer that, but I guess it depends on the actual stories themselves. I already know some of the stuff that happens, and I think I know who dies :/

I can imagine that S5 would be enjoyable if you liked certain characters, I sort of like Nick after his episode and Alo seemed pretty cool, although I thought his ep was about his parents too much. DID NOT like Grace and Rich at all really. The others, meh.

Mini, Franky and Alo aren't likable in s6 imo honestly its up to you, maybe you'll like it but to me s6 was awful and offensive.

Ok so my thinking is, I may as well suffer through it (if its really that bad), since I've seen 1-5 now. And its not like it can ruin my enjoyment of season 1-4, can it?

No it shouldn't its ruined s5 for me (for now anyway) but I still enjoy 1-3 (not really a fan of s4 )
