That's how it goes every year. By this time there's no info other than that it's been commissioned. The difference is that before they wouldn't have the actors at this point and they'd hold auditions, but now they already have them. And we know one of the writers.

I hope this makes the show end on a good note.

That's speculation right? Or has that been confirmed?

As far as who will return- all of gen 3 (with the exception of maybe Alex and Grace). Most of gen 2 (no Freddie...there's rumours JOC is reluctant but I hope the powers that be do whatever they can to coax him back). I reckon Tony for gen one but other than than I'm not sure who from the gen 1 crew would want to come back (I sincerely hope they all do).

I'm ectastic these specials are happening. There are so many loose ends which can be addressed. The principal one is Tony/Effy. It was a travesty and frankly out of character that Tony wouldn't have been on the first plane home to Bristol after the divorce...let alone after the attempted suicide. So I'm really looking forward to seeing this integral relationship addressed in the specials.

Gen 2 in general. Just...ugh...their ending was HORRIBLE and have no closure whatsoever *still bitter*. They're the only generation I NEED to come back. Gen 1 and 3 had satisfactory ending but gen 2's was poor and this has the potential to wipe out a lot of the bad feelings the end of season four left. I think everyone should come back with the exception of maybe Thomas and Freddie (although I would like to see Luke come back but they've done the vision thing to death with Grace. A flashback would be the only other option). I most want to see Cook and Effy...and how they adjust with the aftermath of Freddie's death. I want to see Naomi and Emily in a healthy and functioning relationship. I want to see how Katie is going and I'd love it if the show dealt with her and Emily's relationship again.

Gen three- all need to come back.

Gen one- Im not sure about these guys sans Tony. I'd like to see them all but perhaps the actors have moved on?

Im so glad this is happening. Here's hoping the show has one giant awesome send off.

I don't mind Gen 3 coming back because they cannot destroy or revise that generation anymore than they did in the abomination of series 6.

As for Emily and Naomi, I don't want them back particularly with BE in charge. At best with him at the helm, it is likely one of the two women will have an affair with a guy throughout. At worst, one of the women will end up with a man at the end and the other one will be dead.

Considering Naomi and Emily's storyline in season four was learning to cope with being so deeply emotionally attached to another person I doubt we'll see them cheat with someone of either gender. And I doubt anyone will die considering we have three corpses in three series already. And BE, for whatever else, helped create Naomily and I don't think there's any concrete evidence he's going to rip them down in the specials.

IA, despite his awful and ridic management of lesbian storylines after Naomily, I like to think the BE is smart enough to commit media suicide and help destroy the characters that have brought him so much praise in the past. Naomily are one of the few reasons he still has some credit. And let's not forget JB is in charge again too, so I believe there's gonna be some balance in the writers' room just like the ol' times.

Logically, Naomily must stay away of the heavy drama, their main story arc is pretty resolved, which is not the case with the other characters that really need the screetime. Effy and Cook are the ones that must come back urgently from Gen2, and Katie to a extend.

Tony is pivotal for Gen1 and Effy, so yeah it wouldn't make sense a special without him even though it'd be cute watching what happened with Sid and Cassie.

Gen 3... After S6, I've forced myself to not talk about this generation in a long time. So much anger still.

PD: I could do with some Freddie ghostly appereancem though. Just for the glory of Pasqualino's pretty face

IA, but I worry that they'll be in separate episodes (Tony in the gen 1 spesh, Effy in the gen 2 one). Hopefully they'll do it the same way they did in the series, with Effy in both gen 1 and gen 2 specials, because we definitely need more Tony/Effy if this is going to happen.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see these specials as being a dramatic kind of thing. 'Farewell specials' sound to me like they'd only work if they were relatively lighthearted (not that nothing of substance would happen, but that they'd mirror the more lighthearted episodes of the series). IMO, it's just not going to work if they try to push storylines and drama - these need to focus more on the relationships. I hope that's how they approach it.
