1x08 [Effy] Episode Discussion
Has nobody noticed that Tony’s little sister Effy never utters a word? Has nobody ever noticed that this fourteen year old school girl sneaks out at night? No-one apart from Tony that is. But then Tony doesn’t give a damn about anybody or anything, except his little sister. __________________

Next to "Chris" and "Cassie", this another stellar "stand-out" episode, by far.

This stands up on the same level as Cassie's ep to me as far as best eps of the season.

It's truly remarkable that she doesn't utter a single word in the entire episode, which is a character study of her. Yet you learn so much about her by the people she brings into her life, and the actions she takes. It was amazing.

This episode might be my favorite of the whole series. It was just amazing. The fact that she says so little, is amazing, and yet you're riveted every time she's on the screen.

The fact that she can convey so much with looks and just her eyes amazes me. She's seriously just fascinating. And when she did speak, it was in, like, riddles. It's awesome!

It was perfection. Her character is one of the most layered and interesting people to ever be on a show. The way she spoke when she did was so perfect and it fit, and what she said was just breathtaking, in a way. I loved it so much.

The shots of her in the warehouse were probably some of the best shots (cinematically) on the show in the first season.

Oh, definitely, they were beautiful. And I love the shots on the beach, they're just so pretty.

The shots on the beach and her sort of flying in the warehouse were amazing shots. I especially love the difference in her mood that she expresses with just a glance whenever she looks at someone. It's so amazing.

It really is phenomenal, Kaya is so talented, not just any actress could pull off Effy and have so much expression in their eyes.

Most definitely not. I always regard silent characters on a higher regard if they can pull off being silent, you know? I think that really shows how talented the actor is. Like Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands. An almost silent role and you get so much from him.
