Episode 9: They Shoot Humphreys Don't they

JENNY CONSPIRES TO BE THE ULTIMATE QUEEN BEE / ALL-GIRL ROCK BAND “PLASTISCINES” PERFORM IN THE EPISODE — Not satisfied with just being Queen of Constance Billard, Jenny (Taylor Momsen) sets her sights on becoming the Queen of all the Upper East Side by landing the hottest escort for Cotillion. Nate (Chace Crawford) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) plot to help Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) repair their damaged friendship. Dan (Penn Badgley) is upset when Olivia (guest star Hilary Duff) contemplates leaving school for a movie project. Jessica Szohr, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star.

Episode 10: Last Days of Disco Stick

GUEST PERFORMANCE BY LADY GAGA! — Hoping to impress the elitist theater kids at NYU, Blair (Leighton Meester) sets her sights on landing a private concert with the hottest musical performer of the year, Lady Gaga. Dan (Penn Badgley) and Olivia (guest star Hilary Duff) sign up to write and star in a school play, based on an idea by Blair and directed by Vanessa (Jessica Szohr). With Blair out of the picture, Serena (Blake Lively) turns to Nate (Chace Crawford) to help her get through a difficult situation. As a favor to Chuck (Ed Westwick), Jenny (Taylor Momsen) agrees to hang out with Damien (guest star Kevin Zegers), the son of an ambassador who is staying at Chuck’s hotel, but the experience proves to be a lot more intriguing than she expected. Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. Tony Wharmby directed the episode written by Leila Gerstein (#310).

Carter did not break up with her. He said he had to pay his debt so he would be worthy of being with Serena again. He didn't want her to clean up his mess, he wanted to prove to her that he could do it and be worthy in her eyes again. Nowhere in there did he say "I don't like you anymore." or anything close to that.

imo, when he walked out that door and didn't look back, he broke up with her. If he returns then we will see at that point.

and by the same accord, when Dan and Serena broke up, neither of them said it was b.c they fell out of love. That is not over either.

I really don't think that's what happened, because Carter didn't know Serena was going to pay his debt. And he still left to do right by her and by the Buckleys.
Nate told Serena to wake up before Carter left, lol - it wasn't about how Carter left S.

I do, however, agree that Carter and Serena are technically broken up. If he returns to the show, I think they will definitely happen again. But I doubt he'd expect her to be faithful to him in the meantime.

He left to do what he felt was his duty, pay his debt and be worthy of her. She was mad at her for paying off a debt that belonged to him for which he wanted to take full responsability of. He didn't leave her after taking advantage of her. While he certainly did wrong by Bree's cousin, he knows this and was ready to pay the price.

Yes but in 217 they said "Its over. We gave it a try, right?" or something to that effect. It wasn't "I still love you and I'm gonna leave to make myself a better man for you so we can really be together and happy in our lives." like it was with Carter. The GG voiceover even coincided with it when they showed Carter leaving and looking absolutely miserable saying that being away from the people you love is the worst.

I do very much agree with this

. He left without asking her to wait for him, and I'm sure she'll be momentarily taken or busy with someone when he does come back, and there will be conflict as they try to work it out.

I can see some of these things possibly happening if Carter were to return, but I'm not thinking about it since there are no plans to bring Seb back in. I'll theorize about it then if it happens.

Right now, bring on the S growth. We don't know much about what is coming up for her. Do yo think she hooks up with Tripp, or is just in his orbit?

I also very much agree with this. To me it sealed the last nail on the coffin to DS, while it left the door wide open for CaS.

Also, reading back to the last thead, I'm fairly certain Sofia wasn't calling anyone stupid, simply stating that there are fans of Serena as a part of DS and not Serena the individual character. This much is true of the DS ship and of any ship. There are many Carter fans that are more fans of the CaS pairing, and I don't think there is a reason to consider them stupid for it.

I do think the fans of Serena as an individual character are more impartial when it comes to weighing the possible ship choices. So in that sense what she said was true, and I agree with her. Jungle Julia gave her opinion on Serena as a Serena fan, not a DS fan. Sofia was merely appreciating the different perspective than is sometimes stated otherwise.

This is exactly what I want/hope for. Please, GG writers. Do me a solid.

And I agree - the latter half of season 2 closed DS for good, in my mind. The break up in 2.17, Serena calling their relalationship so high school in 2.20, their declaration that they'd always be each other's first loves in 2.21, and the "high school boyfriend" BS scene in 2.24.

Now they are growing as individuals and their lives are separating, but they will always be friends (and now part of the same family).
