Box Office Report: Green Lantern Falls on Saturday for Disappointing $52.7 Million Weekend Total - The Hollywood Reporter
Oh, boy at that article. And I even took my whole family and some friends to see this. So, I finally saw the movie last night and here are some of my initial thoughts. And it was pretty decent -- of course not up to standards of TDK or Iron Man 1 but it was still a good, fun and entertaining movie (I would rank it the same as Thor). I thought the effects were amazing. The constructs were pretty awesome (during the training scenes with Kilowog), especially in 3d. The story was fine but I felt like it was too rushed -- that was my main issue with this film. I felt like there was just something wrong with the pacing of the movie and it certainly didn't help that there were two villains (and tbh, they really didn't need Hector Hammond). As for the acting, I thought that the cast was decent. Ryan as Hal was great -- he was obviously in his comfort zone in the scenes with his friend Tom -- funny as heck. He was also great when he was speaking to the Guardians at Oa. Mark Strong was just amazing as Sinestro -- tough and badass. Not enough of him. And Blake was great in her role! I liked that she was hard on him but obviously still cared for him, as she obviously didn't want him to be fired after that flying incident and her message to him about courage. I liked that she knew him enough to check in on him and was not afraid to call him out on his sh/t. That's a strong woman right there. And of course, I thought she had one of the best scenes outside of the action -- the one where she finds out it's Hal. Gotta say that was such a memorable scene. She played it perfectly. Her scene with Peter was also so cute but creepy! Speaking of Peter, I don't know if it's the character or if it's how he played him, but I really disliked his over the top performance as Hector. __________________

lol at $53mill being a "failure" - imagine the amount of money spent of Tron:Legacy (more than GL) and that made like $45mill opening weekend but that has gone on to do well.
Also why are they acting like Ryan Reynolds is a big star. No offence but his only big money movie has been The Proposal and that was sold more as a Sandra Bullock movie. Internationally he's still not that well known so they can't expect him to open a movie. Im still confused as to why its not released in some places til August?! They should capitalise on the hype now before Harry Potter fever kicks in.Anyways hopefully it has a decent hold in the next couple of weeks cos once July hits it wont stand a chance __________________

I found a not so good review of GL in an italian site about cinema/movies.
It would take me ages to translate it all but basically New York Magazine asked to an anonymous Hollywood agent about the "rising star" Blake Lively and he replied saying that Green Lantern is an awful movie. He said also that insiders say that it's a complete failure, especially if you think about all the production problems it had. Then this agent added: "Even if the movie is awful, this doesen't mean that Blake Lively won't be more popular in the other countries [the exact word he used in the article is "spendibilità", I guess in english is like disposable/marketable]. Clash Of The Titans was awful, but it didn't stop Sam Worthington climb" source __________________

Hmmm, I've been hearing that's it's been getting bad reviews as well. But I don't care, I'm still going to see it. Hopefully even if the movie isn't that big of a hit, it still helps Blake's career in the long run.
