Serial killers mother rents house where her son killed and tortured woman ...

ST. LOUIS - A woman who discovered her rental home was the likely site of several slayings by a suspected serial killer is moving out early after appealing to St. Louis public housing officials when her landlord wouldn't budge.

Quote:
Turns out the landlord is the accused killer's mother, according to CBS affiliate KMOV.

The station reports that Catrina McGhaw currently rents a house in Ferguson, Mo., that was once home to Maury Troy Travis. The 36-year-old waiter committed suicide in a county jail in 2002 after he was charged with killing two St. Louis area women. Police said he was a suspect in as many as 20 murders.

The lessee said she had no problems with the home until a family member told her to check out a cold case documentary about serial killers that was airing on television, KMOV reports. McGhaw was shocked to turn on the program and discover that her rented home was once a crime scene.

According to the station, Travis allegedly used the house as a torture chamber. McGhaw said the landlord even gave her the dining room table that was featured in crime scene photos of the murder investigation.

"When she showed us the house, she said you can have this table if you want," McGhaw told KMOV.

The home's basement - where Travis allegedly recorded some of his crimes - is what freaked McGhaw out the most. Some of the victims were discovered there, tied to a pole.

The woman told the station her landlord was unsympathetic. "She said, 'No, you signed a lease. You need to stay there until the lease is up,'" McGhaw said.

Travis' mother told KMOV that she had previously revealed the home's morbid history to McGhaw, a claim she denies. A local agent said murders, suicides and violent crimes are not things that landlords are required to disclose to potential renters.

McGhaw said she can't stop thinking about an incident with a 2-year-old relative who was playing in the basement near the pole where the victims had been tied up.
"[The child] looked over... like she was scared. Like she saw somebody scared and crying and nobody was there," McGhaw recalled to KMOV.

Miranda Barbour[
Miranda Barbour
Born Miranda Dean[11]
1994/1995 (age 19–20)
North Pole, Alaska[11]
Criminal charge
Murder
Spouse(s) Elytte Barbour (m. 2013)
In an interview with The Daily Item, Miranda Barbour claims she was molested by a relative at the age of four. Barbour's mother, confirmed that Miranda's uncle was charged with sexual abuse of a minor and sentenced to 14 years in prison.[12] Barbour claimed that she joined a satanic cult at the age of 13 and soon after, committed her first murder when the cult leader forced her to shoot a man indebted to their cult. She claimed to be responsible for the deaths of "at least 22 people" between 2008 and 2013

A Northumberland County District Attorney told the Daily Item that he was skeptical of Miranda's claims, saying "We have been in contact with other law enforcement agencies where she has lived and haven't received any information verifying what she said."[15] The Alaska State Troopers released a statement saying they have no evidence Barbour committed any murders during her time in Alaska.

Robert Hansen, a convicted serial killer who abducted women and hunted them down in the Alaska wilderness in the 1970s, died on Thursday in Anchorage. He was 75 and serving a 461-year prison sentence.

An Alaska Department of Corrections spokeswoman said the state medical examiner would determine the cause of death. Mr. Hansen had been in declining health and died at Alaska Regional Hospital, having been moved there from a state prison.

He was convicted in 1984 after confessing to killing 17 women, mostly strippers and prostitutes, over 12 years. He also confessed to raping 30 other women.

Mr. Hansen had owned a bakery in downtown Anchorage, living across town with his wife and children, who knew nothing of his other life.

Glenn Flothe, who as a state trooper helped put Mr. Hansen behind bars, told The Anchorage Daily News in 2008 that Mr. Hansen’s victims initially included any woman who caught his eye, but that he quickly learned that strippers and prostitutes were harder to track and less likely to be missed.

A licensed pilot, Mr. Hansen abducted women and took them to remote places outside the city, sometimes by his private plane.

Investigators said that in some instances Mr. Hansen raped the women, then returned them to Anchorage and warned them not to contact the authorities. Other times, he let the women go in the wilderness and then hunted them with his rifle.

The bodies of only 12 of the 17 women that Mr. Hansen confessed to killing have been found.

Mr. Hansen was the subject of a 2013 film, “The Frozen Ground,” in which he was played by John Cusack. Nicolas Cage played a state trooper investigating the killings.

I don't know if any of y'all have heard of this and i'll have to find a video or something for y'all. In the 1980's in Waco Texas there was what is now called "The Lake Waco Murders" David Spence was the killer, there was even a book about it. There was also in Waco David Koresh and The Branch Davidians. I'm from Waco Texas.

Thank you

I just watched a movie called Frozen Ground Nick Cage /Vanessa Hudgens True Story

movie is based on the real-life 1980s Alaskan hunt for serial killer Robert Hansen.
Wow that is irony i saw the movie and actors ,saw it was a crime drama ,had no idea it was the same guy who just died . I understand what he did ,his sick mind .. Acted normal married two kids ran a bakery neighbors friends all liked him . Relgion is what he used to explain why he loved prostitutes, He could have them do "Sex acts" he would never ask his wife to do , due to his beliefs . THe head detective never stopped till he had proof off the murders .
