In August 2016, Paget Brewster returned to Criminal Minds as a series regular. In addition to Criminal Minds, Brewster also appears on the TV show "Another Period". She also recently appeared on the television series "Grandfathered", which was on for one season on Fox during the 2015-2016 season. Her other credits include the television series "Huff", the television movie “A Perfect Day,” the series “Andy Richter Controls the Universe,” “The Trouble with Normal,” “Love & Money” and guest-starring roles in TWO AND A HALF MEN, “Stacked” and “Friends.” Her voice can be heard in the animated series “American Dad” and “Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.”

Brewster’s feature film credits include “Unaccompanied Minors,” “Hospital,” “My Big Fat Independent Movie,” “Man of the House,” “Eulogy,” “The Specials,”
“The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle,” “Desperate but Not Serious” and “Let’s Talk About Sex.”

Her theater credits include “Tartuffe,” “Four Dogs and a Bone,” “Chapter Two” and “Pack of Lies.”

Brewster currently lives in Los Angeles and is married to Steve Damstra. Paget and Steve got married on November 28, 2014 | [x]

She almost was Hotch like last night , staying back supporting her team in Garcia .. Hey Emily knows trama too well ..
Thinking of the choice in the cast change , Paget fits the role , Prentiss role is of a leader .

Prentiss was the best choice for unit chief. It took a while for them to find a good balance for her but I think it's working out for the most part.

I think overall though, for me anyways, Prentiss was at her best in seasons 2-6.

Exactly. And it was best to have someone the fans were familiar with and not someone completely new.

Rossi probably would have been eligible but he really wouldn't want it. He even stated it in the episode Prentiss is officially made unit chief that he can't stand the paperwork or politics (he's mentioned this before as well)

I don't think the fans would have accepted someone new.

Rossi had already been clear on not wanting that role beforehand, so going back on that would have been silly.

I wonder what they would have done if Paget didn't want to come back full time. Would they have just brought in someone new or would they have just had Rossi do it to avoid a new, unknown person coming in? Or would they have given it to JJ or Reid? I just can't see Reid being unit chief, at least not now. Same with JJ. While she's qualified like Rossi and Reid, I just can't see her wanting it with two young kids at home. In season 11 she was too busy to even move into Morgan's old office! And then Rossi, while he doesn't mind filling in temporarily, would he be willing to do it if Prentiss couldn't come back? Though really, most of the team has been together and doing this for so long, I think they could have even had Rossi, JJ and Reid co-lead sort of. Since this team has been together so long, it's not like they necessarily need someone to be in charge of them. It seems like it's more a formality thing now than anything and someone to go through.

Just some things to ponder. Luckily it all worked out and Paget was able to come back. Though it could have been kind of interesting to see some possible conflict with someone new taking over (though I would prefer Prentiss in the long run).

I think they would have had Rossi fill in temporarily to give them more time to figure it out, and then maybe have him adapt to it well and agree to do it full time. It would be going back on what they already established, though, so it's better that it didn't come to that.
