It might have been helpful for him to just talk and let his emotions out.

Plus, Shemar was really close to his mom and his fans knew that. He had a lot of pictures of her on Instagram and talked about her a lot, plus he did that bike ride for her to raise money and awareness for MS. So he probably just figured he should post something since I'm sure his fans would notice he wasn't sharing pictures with his mom anymore
