Nice catch! I didn't notice that. So they probably all get called in that night for another case and also to learn about Prentiss and JJ

JJ seems the unlikely person to run the team but she has been there the longest . Reid is too into his own thing to lead a team

Well, technically I think Rossi has been there the longest, even with his ten years retirement. And Reid has been there longer than JJ, but they wouldn't choose him because of everything that's happened to him lately.

I don't think Rossi, JJ or Reid would want the position, but I could see any of them filling in temporarily. I can see JJ accepting to keep the team together and on the assumption that it will only be for a while and Prentiss will be back.

I do think the higher ups may be scheming and that's why they asked JJ and not Rossi, because Rossi would figure it out and shut that crap down so fast, whereas JJ is less experienced in regards to this position and may not spot the shadiness as easily and may have less authority to put a stop to it

Aj/ Jj was in the first season yes she was gone for like 20 ep between children and being fired . So as far as this team(s) JJ in the show ..

AJ, Gubler and KV have been with the show the longest but story-wise, Rossi is the most veteran has been with the BAU the longest. Plus JJ has only been a profiler since season 7.

I was talking more about the history of the characters, not the actors. JJ and Garcia joined in 2004, and I think Reid joined around 2002.

So in terms of how long the characters have been on the team:
Rossi: 29-30 years (1978-1997, 2007-present)
Reid: 15-16 years (~2002-present)
Garcia: 13-14 years (2004-present)
JJ: 12-13 years (2004-2010, 2011-present)
Prentiss: 6-7 years (2006-2011, 2011-2012, 2016-present)
Tara: 2.5 years (2015-present)
Luke: 1.5 years (2016-present)
Simmons: ~6 months (2017-present)

And just for fun since I'm stuck in a car, here's about how long Hotch and Morgan were with the BAU
Hotch: 19 years (1997-2016)
Morgan: 13 years (2003-2016)

Also, just for fun, Gideon's time at the BAU:
1978-2007= ~29 years (he did have a 6 month leave of absence)

So as of now, Rossi and Gideon have the same amount of time in the BAU. Gideon pretty much did his 29 years straight, whereas Rossi took 10 years off before joining again. Rossi will soon be the sole longest BAU member though.

As for longest consecutive time with the team, that's Reid since he's been with the team since around 2002
