what's your favorite book?

So, I'm asking you all, you lovely book worms in whom I may join, to please tell me your favorite books and also include a brief (or long, if you'd prefer) explanation as to why you liked the book and what exactly (or generally) that book is about (**Of couse, don't include the endings!). I'm sure this thread will help quite a bit of people, not to mention myself, with their search for their next adventure in the literary world.

I've just recently finished a series of 4 books by John Steinbeck, including The Moon is Down, Cannery Row, The Pearl, and East of Eden. I'll start out with a brief synopsis of the four of them in case any of you would be interested in reading them if you haven't already. I'm sure that different people will have different explanations of the same book. That being said, be sure to post your explanation even if it's already been posted by another so that we may acquire a different perspective on the book.

I was just wording what everybody's favorite book that you read over and over.
Mine would have to be Gone with the wind and the Harry Potter series.

My favourite book(s) is Christy by Catherine Marshall. I also adore the Harry Potter series and have read the books several times. I also have read several of the Anne of Green Gables books time and time again....and just for good measure I'll add The Princess Bride.

That's such a hard one, but I think I'll choose The Blue Sword by Robin McKinnley. That book is phenomanal.

It's Pullman's triology His dark Materials.
But I also love Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and Angela's ashes by Frank McCourt.
